Brooklyn Halloween

Halloween 2014 and More

This year, Halloween night was super cold and windy, so we didn’t really do any official trick-or-treating (other than going to Aunt Alisha and Uncle Tyler’s house). I got Brooklyn dressed up not too long after I got home from work Friday afternoon so that Rae Rae could see her in costume before she left for the lake house.

Brooklyn the Butterfly!

Travis and my mom can attest to the fact that she would NOT stand or sit still for a picture! We were all chasing her all over the house and mostly getting blurry pictures. I’m sure Brooklyn was secretly laughing at us on the inside :)

This little butterfly loves to take her clothes off! I had to double knot her “hat” on so that she couldn’t pull it off :)

“No, I won’t look at the camera!”

…”at least, I won’t look happy about it!”

I finally bribed her with a Sweet Tart and got her to sit on this bench for a minute. She will do anything for candy!

Butterflies don’t fly…they ride in the car!

We brought our own candy over to Tyler and Alisha’s…haha

Trick-or-treating at Tyler and Alisha’s meant getting all sorts of goodies like snacks, stickers, colored pencils, etc.!

15 Weeks

Back on the home front, yesterday was 15 weeks! Yay for another good week! We go for my 16 week check-up next Wednesday :)

Last week, Rae Rae brought my old desk and bench to our house that I’d used as a child. The bench says “Erin” on it. She also brought several coloring books with her! Brooklyn has enjoyed coloring this week!

Sometimes, it’s just easier to lie down and color :)

I didn’t get a picture of it, but we had our first incident of Brooklyn coloring on the walls on Monday night. She made it 4 whole days without trying that…haha! Not sure if that should be impressive or not, but we knew it was coming eventually. She didn’t get in trouble this time, but we told her she would if it happened again. So thankful for Google and baking soda…you can’t even tell where she colored!

Sunday was a rough afternoon for Miss B. She didn’t sleep at church, which isn’t that unusual, but she fell asleep on the way to Cici’s and woke up in a horrible mood. She never wakes up happy, but this was way worse than normal. Thankfully, she took another late afternoon nap before church that evening and woke up feeling much more like her usual self!

They learned about King Saul in Bible class on Sunday, so of course I had to get a picture of Brooklyn wearing her crown :) If you look closely, you can see where she is bruised under her right eye. Sunday night, she tripped and fell face first into our metal baby gate. Ouch!! :(

She likes to line up her bath toys in a line on the side of the tub…haha

I discovered that she likes watching Blue’s Clues…haha. She doesn’t watch too much TV, but every once in a while, I’ll turn it on when I really need to get something done without her tearing apart the whole house :)

Yesterday while I was getting ready, she brought me some silly glasses that she has in her room. She has never wanted to wear them before, but yesterday she did! I would take pictures of her wearing them, and then she wanted to see the pictures of “Book-in” (that’s what she calls herself, as of a few days ago).

IMAG3205

The glasses used to have a plastic nose attached, but it got ripped off a long time ago :)

What a silly girl!

IMAG3219One of my biggest regrets lately as a mother (ha!) has been introducing Brooklyn to Halloween candy. I bought several bags on sale a few weeks ago, and she immediately knew where the candy bowl was and learned how to say “candy”. It’s more like a question: “Candyyyyy????” She begs and whines for it all day long and has even thrown a few fits when she doesn’t get it.  It has really gotten old. I guess she would have discovered candy eventually, but I’m wishing it wasn’t this soon :) This morning, I caught her up on the dining room table grabbing it out of the bowl, so the bowl was promptly moved to the top of the refrigerator. I think we need to send the rest of it to work with Daddy! :)

Speaking of climbing, she can now climb up on the couches in the living room and climb onto the kitchen and dining room chairs by herself. She can even climb up into her high chair without help. I’m anticipating a visit to the ER before too long when she busts her head open. She was standing up in her high chair last night before we caught her and made her sit…argh!

My favorite phrase right now that Brooklyn says is “Hi Momma!” or “Hi Da-da!” She loves to say hello to us, especially first thing in the morning or when Travis gets home from work. It’s the sweetest…and a good reminder that the frustrations of parenting a toddler are definitely worth it overall!
