Brooklyn family pregnancy #2

Welcome to the World, Baby Carter!

The biggest news of the week is that Alisha had her baby!!!! Wednesday was such an exciting day. Alisha is apparently a pro at birthing babies because she checked into the hospital Tuesday night and he was born at 10:14 AM Wednesday morning. By the time we got up to the hospital around 7:30 AM, she was already 9 cm dilated. So crazy! I guess that just means she should have about 5 more kids since she’s such a natural ;)

Carter Ryan Loveless weighed 8 lbs 9 oz and was 20.5 inches long. He has a head full of dark brown hair and is super cute (I’m not biased or anything!). After a short stay in the NICU for a couple of hours, he was able to come back to the well baby nursery. We are so thankful he is here and healthy! I finally got my hands on him yesterday afternoon, and he is even cuter in person than the pictures. I think Travis and I just have really bad timing because we left the hospital Wednesday right before they decided to let Carter leave the NICU…so we actually didn’t even see him in person until yesterday. Then, we showed up at the hospital around 1:45 PM yesterday, and they’d just taken him to be circumcised. So, Travis got to at least see him through the nursery window before he had to go back to work, but he still hasn’t held that little stinker! I’m hoping we can go see him again (and his mommy and daddy) for a few minutes sometime this weekend.

You can’t tell it from this picture, but Brooklyn was entertaining the whole waiting room on Wednesday morning while we were waiting for Carter to arrive. She’s such a ham!

Emily made these cute little “race bibs” for all of us to wear while we waited :)

We got to see Alisha on Wednesday while Carter was up in the NICU. She does NOT look like she just gave birth a couple of hours before this!

Yesterday, I got to hold Carter for the first time. My first nephew!! Isn’t he cute?

Happy Loveless family :)

Brooklyn wasn’t too interested in the new “bebe” yesterday, but I’m sure that will change as the months go by. She did call him “bebe” and even tried to say Carter a few times. She does have a knack for knowing when important life events are taking place because on Jenn’s wedding day and on Wednesday, she woke up at 5:45 AM. It’s like she knows that something big is about to happen…haha!

Congratulations, Tyler and Alisha! We are so happy for you!!

Last weekend, we went to Birmingham for my cousin Claire’s wedding on Friday night, and we decided to stay for the whole weekend. The traffic was so bad on Friday that we were actually 10 minutes late to the wedding even though we had 3 hours to get there. It was ridiculous, and I had a throbbing headache by the time we got there because I hate to be late to weddings. Once we finally arrived though, we had a great time. Uncle Bill and Aunt Gale, who are LSU fans, came down from Richmond for the wedding, and they stayed to watch the Bama-LSU game with us on Saturday night. What a crazy game!! The ending was exciting but totally unexpected. I still can’t believe we actually won. Whew!

Aunt Gale successfully got Brooklyn to cheer for LSU a few times when they did something good during the game. It was funny! :)

16 Weeks

16 weeks along

Wednesday marked 16 weeks along, and I’m still feeling good! Over the weekend, I started feeling some occasional flutters, but I wasn’t sure if it was the baby or not. I’ve kept feeling them off and on since then, so I think that’s what it must be. She might be another active baby! I had my 16 week checkup on Wednesday, and everything looked good. HR was in the 150s and my blood pressure was fine. I’ve gained about 4 pounds total, so I’m pretty happy with that. I was afraid with all the Halloween candy I’ve eaten that I would have gained a lot more…haha!

I’ll leave you with a cute video of Brooklyn “counting”. Last night, we discovered that she knows that “two” comes after “one” and “three” comes after “two”. She also knows how to say “nine” and “ten” but doesn’t really know where they come in order. This is not something we’ve been working on with her; I guess she’s just watching and listening all the time! Good job, “Book-een”!!
