birthdays Brooklyn Savannah

End of January

Since it’s already March, I guess it’s about time that I write about the last week or two of January! ;)

One morning I looked at Brooklyn and wondered why her sleeves were so short. Turns out I’d gotten her dressed with one of Savannah’s shirts that day…haha! Apparently, 24 month shirts still fit everywhere but the arms ;)

We went to story time at the library, and Carter came too!

Savannah has started to participate in some of the songs at the library, but she still wants to stick pretty close to Mommy!

Savannah has also started doing her own craft at the end of story time. She has gotten pretty good at “coloring” and she helped me glue down the shapes on her sweater too :)

Brooklyn’s idea of painting these days is swirling all the paints colors around on the plate and turning them brown :)

These days, anything that Brooklyn does, Savannah HAS to do also, so I have to get creative sometimes. I gave her a small bowl of water and a paintbrush and she enjoyed her own paint time :)

So fun!

The girls enjoyed making a tent one morning out of dining room chairs and blankets. Peekaboo!

I loved seeing those little toes sticking out!

Savannah looked awfully cute before Bible class one Wednesday night. She enjoys going to class now and usually walks right in without a fuss!

We weren’t able to celebrate Rae Rae’s birthday until the last weekend of January. Brooklyn wanted to make the cake for her “party”, so we decided to make a chocolate one “with Buzz, Woody, and Dory” (per Brooklyn’s request). Brooklyn was a big help pouring ingredients into the mixer and helping with the whole baking process!

She did a good job spreading the chocolate frosting on top!

By the smiles on their faces, I think the frosting tasted good!

Because my cake carrier isn’t very tall, we weren’t able to put the finishing touches on the cake until we got to Rae Rae’s house that weekend. Brooklyn helped put Dory, Buzz, and Woody on top before we sang to Rae Rae!

I think Rae Rae enjoyed her belated birthday cake. It was definitely made with love!

She also had some help opening her gifts, of course :)

Brooklyn drew Rae Rae a picture for her birthday and told me exactly what to write on it…haha! My favorite part is: “Thank you for stopping me not whining.” ;)

Speaking of birthdays, we found this Buzz Lightyear mask at Party City when we were buying candles for Brooklyn’s birthday cake, and she just “had to” have it, so I obliged. She has enjoyed wearing it and pretending to be Buzz!

The last day of January was a beautiful one! We decided to walk around the neighborhood over lunchtime, and the girls ate their lunch in the stroller. They enjoyed that, and Brooklyn has requested to do it again sometime soon.

We also played in the backyard after we got back from walking. It has been a pretty warm winter, and we have enjoyed having so many nice days to get outside and play!

Big helper!

Brooklyn Says and Other Notes:

  • 1/24/17 – Savannah is saying “pa” or “ba” for pop (it’s a little hard to tell which one). She learned it from us singing “Pop Goes the Weasel” in music class!
  • 1/28/17 – Brooklyn asked Paw, “Are you not very good at drawing?”
  • 1/29/17 – We were getting ready to leave Paw and Rae Rae’s house to drive back home, and Brooklyn exclaimed, “I want to stay for 4 YEARS!” I’m sure that would be a dream come true :)
  • 1/30/17 – Travis told Brooklyn, “Stop arguing with your mother.” A few minutes later, she ran up to him and said, “She’s not my mudder! She’s my mommy!”
  • 1/31/17 -“Brooklyn, see that bird?!” Yes, he’s my best friend. “Oh, what’s his name?” Jeroboam!
