Psalm 23

_DSC3022

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.

_DSC3020 He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.

_DSC3018 3 He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

_DSC3012

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.

_DSC3021 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.

Just like a sheep follows its shepherd, Brooklyn is learning to follow Travis and me. That’s a sobering thought! (Am I someone I would want her to follow or imitate? Do I want her to “imitate” me when I spend more time on Facebook than I do reading the Bible? Or when I’m too busy or thoughtless to pray before I eat lunch? I’ve got some work to do!). A shepherd protects, guides, and cares for his sheep, just like we are trying to do for Brooklyn. A sheep is completely trusting in the shepherd to do what’s best for it. Hopefully, as we try to follow God, the ultimate Shepherd, and learn to trust Him more, she will learn to follow and trust Him too.

Erin, God doesn’t expect perfection. He knows how hard Travis and you are trying to set a wonderful example for little Brooklyn and He is blessing you with blessings upon blessings. Loved this posting!!!
