Whirlwind Wedding Weekend

This weekend, Travis, Brooklyn, and I went to out-of-town weddings on Friday AND Saturday night. It was the first time we’ve taken B to a wedding, so I guess we were taking a chance by planning to bring her to two in one weekend!

The first wedding was Katie and Jarred’s on Friday night. I worked on Friday, got home at 2:50 PM, fed Brooklyn, showered, finished packing…and somehow we left the house by 4 PM. Talk about hurrying! The wedding was actually at the same place that Travis and I got married at: Mountain View Gardens and Ballroom in Springville, AL. It was our first time to go back since our own wedding. It was fun to reminisce about our wedding day and think about how much things have changed in the past 5.5 years! Since I love pictures and am somewhat sentimental, I wanted to take our picture in front of the house as a family of 3. Travis humored me and cooperated for the picture. I know he thinks I take way too many pictures!! :)

It was great to see so many friends that we hadn’t seen in several years! Lots of people from church in Tuscaloosa were there, and we hadn’t seen most of them since we moved away 3 years ago. It had been too long!

Katie and me
We’ve seen Alan and Katie 2 months in a row…so exciting! :)
It was great to see Nate too!
Travis and Aaron :)

Brooklyn did great at Katie and Jarred’s wedding. I mean WAY better than either of us were expecting. She only fussed a couple of times, and it didn’t last long. She was awake most of the time, got passed around to a bunch of people, and didn’t seem to mind all of the action too much. We were so proud of her!

Aunt Alisha looked so pretty!
Brooklyn loved Alan!

She got a little tired by the end of the night, and that left thumb went in the mouth :)

Luckily, we didn’t have to drive all the way back home after the wedding. My parents only live about 15 or 20 minutes from Mountain View, so we spent the night there Friday night. They were more than happy to see Brooklyn (and us) I think! It was a quick visit because we had to leave Saturday afternoon for the next wedding. I had intended on Brooklyn wearing this cute chevron outfit that Mom had bought her to the Saturday wedding, but it turned out that she was already too big for it. I felt terrible because I’ve had it for several months; I was just saving it for a special occasion I guess. We snapped a quick picture before changing her into something that fit a little better :)

Hopefully she’ll have a little sister who can wear this one day! :)

Jason and Ellen’s wedding was in Florence, so we left Saturday afternoon to drive there. Brooklyn slept the whole way there, but wasn’t quite as happy when she woke up. She didn’t want to eat very much even though I tried to feed her twice before the wedding. I ended up trying to feed her again during the reception, but she still wouldn’t really eat. Not sure what her problem was. She fussed off and on during the reception, so it wasn’t quite as enjoyable as Friday night was. I think she was just tired from all of the activity.

It was great to see Jason and Ellen for the first time since last fall, and I also got to catch up with Mollie. We’ve missed seeing all of our friends who don’t live close by! Unfortunately , I forgot to bring our camera into the wedding, so I had to use my phone for pictures. Big difference in quality!

Jeremy got to hold Brooklyn for the first time!
My long lost friend!
Worn out :)

By the time we got home at 11 PM on Saturday night, all three of us were exhausted. It’s a lot of work taking a baby to a wedding…much less two in one weekend. We are so excited for Katie/Jarred and Jason/Ellen, though, and wouldn’t have missed either wedding. Congratulations y’all!! :)
