Indoor Fun!

It’s been nice to see some sunshine after so much rain at the end of last week! We’ve spent a lot of time hanging out inside and trying to stay dry lately, but it’s still been fun. Here’s what we’ve been up to…

1. The 4th of July cookout that we were invited to got cancelled because of all the rain, so we had a pretty lazy day. At least Brooklyn picked out an appropriate red, white, and blue outfit anyway :) We hung out with Matt and Maggie that night, so it was still a fun day even though it was so rainy.

2. Brooklyn has also been practicing her tummy time a lot. She has gotten really good at rolling to her tummy and propping herself up on her arms. She even enjoys tummy time now (sometimes!).

Tummy time on the 4th while we were stuck inside!

Mommy can do tummy time too!

3. Another good indoor activity to keep Brooklyn occupied is sitting in her Bumbo. She likes  to sit in it and play with the toys in front of her. It’s also helping her learn how to sit up!

4. To keep her nice girlish figure (hehe!), Brooklyn gets her daily exercise in the doorway jumper. She has really gotten the hang of jumping lately. The first few times she used it, she would just kind of stand there, but now she understands what she’s supposed to be doing. Sometimes, she jumps so much that she wears herself out…

Notice her arm hanging down through the leg hole…haha! And, of course, a funny video of the incident…

 5. One other thing that has kept Brooklyn entertained this week is the TV. I tried out a couple of Baby Einstein DVDs this week, and she loved them! Watched the entire 20 or 30 minutes straight.

Increasing her IQ :)

Brooklyn also continues to impress us with her love of sports :) This time, it was tennis! She watched a little bit of Wimbledon yesterday afternoon with Travis. Hope she continues to be a sports fan!!

One exciting non-Brooklyn development (I know those are rare these days!) is that we FINALLY ordered patio furniture! Considering how slow we are at house projects, it’s not too surprising that we’ve waited until our third summer in this house to buy anything. We’re starting with a table and 4 chairs, but I’d eventually like to add a bench or a couple of Adirondack chairs. And maybe some big pots with flowers. Who knows! :) I’m just looking forward to having something on the patio….it’s been empty too long. Yay for progress! The table and chairs are supposed to be delivered this week, so I’ll have to post some pictures once we put it together.

I guess that’s about it for what’s happening around here. Coming up this weekend…Brooklyn turns 5 months old and a big family reunion at Joe Wheeler! Should be  fun!
