It’s been hard to find time to blog over the past several weeks. Whenever I get a free moment, I try to catch a nap or go to bed rather than blog. Anyway, everything that has happened lately is running together in a blur of sleeplessness, so this is a recap with mostly just pictures and captions. We are still in survival mode and hoping to be more rested soon. Savannah turned 7 weeks old on Wednesday. It’s hard to believe we’ve had her with us for that long. Soon, it will be time to write her 2 month post!
This was our first walk around the neighborhood as a family of 4. (I think we’ve only done one other one since then!). This was obviously before it got SO hot outside!!
Squishy lips!
This was a rare moment – Savannah asleep in her bouncer!
A sister moment before Wednesday night Bible study a few weeks ago :)
“I am Savannah – hear me roar!”
Savannah’s first time in the Boba 4G – she’s a big fan! We ordered this after we realized how much Savannah likes to be held all the time. It’s been a lifesaver!
I wouldn’t be able to get anything done during the day without the Boba! It’s a necessity when you’re chasing a toddler around :)
We had a baby boom at church over the past 6 months – these 5 will all be in the same grade once they start school! L to R: Carter, Sarah, Livia, Gabriel, and Savannah
Tummy time isn’t too bad when you just rest your head on the floor ;)
What a cute little sister! (Brooklyn calls her “Sister” or “Baby Sa-ban-dah”)
Best smile I’ve caught on camera! She doesn’t smile too much yet, but sometimes in the mornings right after she eats, I’ll get a few good smiles out of her :)
Brooklyn went to “Paw and Rae Rae Camp” a couple of weeks ago – A.K.A. She went to their house for a few days. She had fun, and it was a nice break for Mommy and Daddy too!
She did all sorts of fun things at “camp” like going to the splash pad!
…and the playground too!
Paw is so much fun! Thank you, Paw and Rae Rae, for giving her such a great weekend! :)
Crazy hair – most days this is what it looks like ;) Especially since we rarely go anywhere these days!
This year, Travis’s birthday happened to be the same day as National Doughnut Day. What better way to celebrate your birthday than with a free doughnut at Krispy Kreme??
Watching the doughnuts being boxed up through the window…
Brooklyn got a chocolate glazed doughnut with sprinkles…yum!
Of course, she ate hers before we even left the parking lot :)
So good!
Reading her Bible one morning :)
We’ve spent lots of time on the back patio over the past few weeks. The water table and swimming pool have been a big hit with this girl!
This little smarty figured out an easy way to “paint with water” – instead of dipping your brush in water and painting on the paper, just pour the cup of water over the paper, and it saves you the hassle of doing much painting :)
She’s getting to be a pro at taking off her shoes :)
One of her favorite indoor activities is building “castles” and “towers” with blocks…
This week, we built Brooklyn her very own house out of a big box! I think she likes it…
She spent a lot of time decorating it with crayons and stickers :)
…and she cuddled up in it while watching Lion King!
When did this girl get so big???
Brooklyn went with a sporty look for church on Sunday – ponytail and tennis shoes with her dress :)
Yesterday was my first time to take both girls into a store by myself. I got brave, and we went to Target to get a few things. You can’t really see Savannah, but she’s sitting in her carseat in the big part of the cart. It was an interesting trip. Savannah didn’t cry on the way there, but she cried off and on during the whole time we were shopping and most of the way home too. It was a quick trip! On the way home, two songs that came on the radio were “Urgent” and “Stayin’ Alive”…I thought that was pretty funny considering the fact that basically my two goals for the outing were to survive and hurry as fast as we could ;)
Other Brooklyn Notables:
- Brooklyn has gotten on a Lion King kick lately after Cici introduced her to it. At least we’re not watching Finding Nemo EVERY day now :) She loves Rafiki and calls him “Moofiki” for some reason. She also calls Scar “Scarf” sometimes…haha. The other day, we were watching the part where Mufasa is killed by the stampede, and she said “Daddy sleeping. He needs rest.” At this age, I guess I’ll just let her think that…she has plenty of years to learn about death.
- Yesterday, Savannah was crying while she was propped up in the Boppy pillow on the floor. Brooklyn went over and gave her a hug and a kiss. Savannah didn’t stop crying, so Brooklyn asked her, “Are you CRANKY???” Yes, Brooklyn, she most certainly is :)
- This morning, Brooklyn came out of her room telling us, “I disobeyed God.” I told her that wasn’t good and asked what she did. She said, “I colored.” Travis asked her what she colored on, and she showed him where. She’d been coloring on the windowsill. Of course, we told her not to do it again, but I was so impressed that she came and told us what she’d done even though she obviously knew it was wrong to do, AND she made the connection that disobeying Mommy and Daddy means she has disobeyed God. I love her little heart!
- If you ask Brooklyn how old she is, she can tell you “I two years old.” If you ask her if her name is “Burkryn”…she will say, “Not Burkryn…BROOKWIN!!” :)
I love these two!
One reply on “The Past Few Weeks”
We love them too….and their parents. Hang in there. It WILL get easier, and you will soon forget a lot of these frustrating times!!
