Thankful

This year, among many other things, I’m thankful for…

somersaulting little girl :)

This girl keeps me hopping, makes me laugh, challenges me to be more patient and less selfish, and continues to amaze me with the thing she learns and does. It’s hard to believe she’ll be 2 years old in a few more months.

I’m also thankful for Brooklyn’s daddy, who isn’t afraid of stepping in to help with hair styling or whatever else I ask him to do.

We’ve been in Trussville since Wednesday night to celebrate Thanksgiving with my family. Yesterday was a great day! We ate some great food and were able to spend some time with both sides of my family, which we don’t get to do as often as we’d like. Brooklyn has really enjoyed being here, especially getting to spend some time with Pawwwwww. They eat Cheerios together for breakfast, and Paw takes her outside to swing, ride in the wagon, blow bubbles, and do lots of fun things. He’s a great pawwwww!!!!

Sleep these days has been a little hit or miss around our house, but last night Brooklyn slept from about 9 PM to almost 8 AM. I felt like a new woman this morning! She’s currently getting at least one new tooth, which I think has been causing her to wake up in the middle of the night again. Add that to the fact that she very rarely sleeps past 6:30 AM anymore, and we’ve just all been tired lately! She’s slept in our bed more times in the past few weeks than I care to admit, so I’m hoping once this tooth pops through, we’ll be back to normal. Now if I could just get her to sleep until 8 AM every day!

We spent some time on Wednesday putting up our Christmas decorations before we left town, and I managed to get the tree decorated while Brooklyn was napping. When she woke up and came out to the living room, she kept saying “Ooooohhhh! Oooohhhhhhh!” over and over. She was very interested in the lights and ornaments. It’s so neat to see how the simplest things (to us as her parents) just catch her attention and make her so excited. It will be fun to see her get excited about Christmas this year, especially since last year she didn’t really care about any of it.

18 Weeks

I’m also thankful for this little butterbean! I was 18 weeks on Wednesday, and everything seems to be going just fine. My AFP screening (that tests for spina bifida) came back negative, so I was glad to hear that. I’ve been feeling a little more movement lately, and that has been neat. I remember missing those kicks after Brooklyn was born! We go for my 20 week visit in a couple of weeks, so we’ll hopefully be able to “confirm” that it’s a girl then. (Yes, I know they could still be wrong even then…haha). After that, it’ll be time to sit down and discuss names!

We are so very blessed!!
