Making Progress + A Fun Surprise

I knew this would happen! We still aren’t finished with the nursery, but making just a little progress on it makes me feel so much better! We spent a good bit of last weekend working on it, and we’re getting there. Travis worked on repainting the trim, and it’s now done. He painted it white (the same color it was), but the previous owners of the house had done a really sloppy job painting in that room and had gotten pink paint all over the trim. We figured now would be a good time to fix that while the room is relatively empty. It looks much better now! I worked on painting the chest of drawers black. I’m really happy with the way it looks so far!!! Tomorrow night, I’m planning to put a coat of polycrylic on it, and then hopefully Saturday we can put the new knobs on it. We ordered them off Etsy, and they match the Hottsie Dottsie bedding. So excited about that! :) I also painted some letters that spell “Brooklyn” to hang above her crib. I finished them yesterday, so they are good to go. I think they turned out really cute!

I painted the letters to match the canvas prints that came with the bedding!

Today marks 31 weeks along. I feel like Brooklyn has really grown in the last week, at least by looking at my latest picture. I really don’t know how my belly can grow for 9 MORE WEEKS!! Doesn’t seem possible, but we’ll see. According to my BabyCenter app, Brooklyn is over 16 inches long and weighs about 3.3 pounds. No wonder I feel her moving all over…she’s running out of space in there! I am still feeling pretty good overall. I’m definitely noticing that it’s getting harder and harder to get up from the floor or roll out of bed. I can still bend down and pick stuff up…just not quite as easily. Yesterday, I “jogged” a mile, so I’m still trying to run a couple of times a week.  I’m getting slower and slower, but I guess the main point is just doing it at all :) We toured the labor and delivery and mother/baby floors at the hospital on Monday night, and it was actually pretty informative. I wasn’t sure how long it would last or what they would tell us, but it took about an hour, and the girl leading it told us a lot of information. Travis was glad we went so that he’ll know where to take me when the time comes! :) We also had my latest appointment Monday right before the tour, and it went well. I’m going every 2 weeks now, so we’ll go back again on New Year’s Eve.

31 weeks

Sunday night, we celebrated Travis’s grandmother Baugay’s 80th birthday. It was a surprise party at Casa Blanca, and we had a great turnout…probably at least 60 people there I would guess. She was definitely surprised, and I think she had fun. Pam put together a slideshow with pictures of Baugay from when she was little all the way until now with family pictures in there also. It was really neat! The last picture was an ultrasound picture of Brooklyn, which elicited a lot of “awws”…except from Zach, Travis’s cousin. Zach proclaimed, loud enough for everyone to hear, “That last picture was kind of freaky!!” It was hilarious! :) We also gave Baugay a scrapbook with memories from the whole family. I volunteered to make it, since I love scrapbooking, so that’s what I was working on the past few weeks. I just couldn’t mention it yet! :) If I live to be 80 years old, I hope that I’m in good health like Baugay. You’d never know her age by looking at her or her social calendar!! :) Happy birthday, Baugay!!

Scrapbook fun!

It’s hard to believe, but our 5 year anniversary is Saturday, which means Christmas is only a few days away. December has gone by in a flash!! We are planning to celebrate our anniversary by grilling steaks here at home. Travis grills them just as well as the restaurants do! :) Should be a fun day. There’s a chance I may have to work Christmas Eve, but I’m crossing my fingers that I won’t have to. We’ll celebrate with my family first and then with Travis’s on Christmas night. It’s always fun to be with our families! Hope you have a great holiday too!

P.S. I may or may not have beaten my hubby this weekend to make it to the fantasy football championship match. He’s not admitting anything :) Wish me luck…I’m the only girl in the league, so if I win, it’ll be epic!! :)
