Kitty Cat Mishaps and Other Happenings

A couple of weeks ago, Travis needed to cut the grass on a Friday afternoon before we went out of town (to Atlanta for the game), so I took Gabby and Felix PLUS Brooklyn all to the vet by myself. It was time for the cats’ yearly checkup. It’s always an adventure trying to catch them to get them into the carrier to even take them to the vet, but thankfully Travis helped round them up before he started mowing. Between the cats, Brooklyn, and the diaper bag, you can imagine what I looked like stumbling up to the front door when we got there. It was a heavy load!

Once inside, we didn’t have to wait too long before we went back to a room. First things first…it was time for the dreaded weigh-in. How much weight had Felix gained this year? Gabby weighed about the same as last time (0.2 lbs more), but Felix had gained an entire pound!!! He now weighs 13.8 lbs!! I cut down on their food every year, but it’s obvious who’s eating most of the food, right?? I guess it’s time to start trying “diet” cat food. Those kitties!!

Trying to figure out an escape route…

Our vet has a little “doctor kit” that kids can play with while they are there, so Brooklyn had a fun time with that! Of course, Gabby and Felix didn’t appreciate it too much, as you can imagine… :)

Brooklyn is hiding her thermometer and is ready to pounce on an unsuspecting Gabby…haha

“Come out, come out wherever you are!”

Luckily, other than the usual lecture about how the kitties are too big and Felix has too much plaque on his teeth, we survived the outing with minimal trauma. Whew!

Unfortunately, Brooklyn continues to be obsessed with Gabby, and Gabby continues to be terribly annoyed by Brooklyn. Brooklyn is always trying to pet her, hug her, pull her tail, and chase her around the house. I have to give Gabby credit for putting up with a lot, but eventually she decides she’s had enough. And this happens…

It’s not the first time Gabby has scratched her, and I’m sure it won’t be the last. Brooklyn doesn’t seem to learn from it! Little hard head :) She didn’t even cry at first when it happened until she came up to me, and then she just cried for a few seconds. This happened last week, so thankfully all of the scratches are just about healed by now. I just wish Gabby would stay away from her eyes…ugh!

Moving on, it seems like Brooklyn is learning new words each day! Some new ones lately include flower, bubbles, toast, ba-ba (banana), cheee (cheese), teee (tree), mow (meow), eeeee (squeak), moo, neigh, caw, and probably some more that I’m forgetting! She has really started picking up on the animal sounds! The other day, we were looking at a book, and I said, “The rooster says…cock-a-doodle-do.” And Brooklyn said, “Cock-a-do!!” It was so funny. When we point out objects in a book and say the name, she always tries to repeat it back. It’s really amazing how much she learns each day. I just love it!

Where’s Brooklyn???

IMAG2877

There she is!

I’m so glad it is finally cooling off a little bit outside! Brooklyn loves to go outside and will sometimes stand at the back door and whine to go out (yes, like a dog). She doesn’t know the word “out” or “outside”, so she just grunts and whines to get her message across ;) One day last week, we played in her pool on the back patio. She always loves to do that!

Of course, she wants to climb in and out of the pool 50 million times.

IMAG2852

She thought it was so funny to let that water hit her little bottom…haha

IMAG2854

Not afraid to stick her face in the water either…
