Christmas pregnancy

Happy Holidays

We had a great Christmas with our families this year! Sunday afternoon, we headed to Trussville to spend a couple of days with my family. We celebrated with the Palmers on Christmas Eve and with my mom’s side of the family on Christmas Day. It was great to see everyone again! Of course, we got way more than we deserved…I think that happens every year. As I get older, the less I care about the gifts and the more I value just spending time with the fam! Travis got stocked up on running gear since he’s training for a marathon in April. He got new running socks, shorts, shirts, and a hydration belt. I think he’s all set to break the world record! :)

Our favorite gift from my parents was something we weren’t exactly expecting. While we were all opening gifts in the living room on Christmas Eve, Jenn noticed one of the neighbors walking up to the front door. Mom suspiciously ran outside to meet her, and a few minutes later, she came back inside with two motorcycle helmets…one for me and one for Travis!! Wait…you didn’t know we bought a motorcycle?  Well, you’re right…we didn’t. The helmets are for “tornado preparedness”!!! We laughed and laughed (and you will too when you see the picture!), but in all seriousness, it’s not a bad idea to have them just in case. Our house doesn’t have a basement, and there really isn’t a great “safe place” if a tornado was coming. Usually, we go over to the Hesters’ house, but if we ever get stuck here, you can bet I’ll be putting my helmet on if there’s a tornado heading our way. Now the funniest part is that Mom didn’t know what these helmets looked like before she bought them from her neighbor, so we got some real gems! Travis’s helmet sports a skull and crossbones, and mine has dragons on it!!! You’re gonna love it…

Bad to the bone!

We also got to meet Jenn’s boyfriend, Chandler, while we were in town, so we got to give our stamp of approval. Hopefully we didn’t scare him away with all the crazy family stories! :)

On Christmas Day, after a yummy brunch with Mom’s side of the family, we headed back home to celebrate with Travis’s family. Our big gift from Cheryl was Adobe Photoshop Lightroom to go along with our new camera. We’ve already been using it for a few weeks, and it’s pretty cool! It can whiten teeth, hide blemishes, and do all sorts of other stuff! We also got a new memory card for the camera from Emily, Melissa, Tyler, and Alisha. It can hold almost 900 pictures, which is really nice! :) After opening gifts, we ate an awesome supper before watching Finding Nemo. It was a really fun day! We are blessed with great families, that’s for sure.

I was supposed to work Wednesday and Thursday this week, but I ended up only working Wednesday and a couple of hours on Thursday. I’ve been battling what I think is a cold ever since we got home from Trussville, and I just felt terrible on Thursday especially. I think I’m on the upswing (hopefully), but I’m still coughing, sneezing, and sounding like a man. Yuck! I did manage to get out and go to a wedding last night, but my eyes were watering so badly that it looked like I was crying throughout the ceremony and reception…hah! I’m sure people thought I was just a crazy hormonal pregnant woman because the tears were running down my cheeks before anyone had even walked down the aisle yet!! :) Here’s to hoping I’ll be back to normal soon…I don’t have time to be sick!

Thursday marked 32 weeks along, which is pretty crazy. I thought the last few weeks of pregnancy were supposed to drag, but so far it still seems like they’re flying by. Brooklyn is still kicking around like crazy, and I’m assuming she’s growing a lot too, because I feel like my belly is definitely growing! The nursery progress has been on hold this week because of Christmas and me not feeling very good, but maybe Monday and Tuesday we can get back to work. The chest of drawers is almost finished, and it’s looking great. We also need to put the crib together. My baby shower is coming up soon…I think it’s two weeks from today, so that should be fun. Things are just moving along!!!

32 weeks

Well, I think I’m going to take a nap before we have to be at a potluck in a little while. I’m not sure if I’ve been so tired this week because of this cold or just because I’m in the third trimester. Who knows! Guess I should enjoy my naps while I can :)
