Abigail: 8 Months Old

Well, seeing as how Abigail is NINE months old today, I’m extremely behind on this 8 month post. I only took a few notes on what she was up to a month ago, so this will be mostly pictures. Sorry, Abigail!

Abigail turned 8 months old on April 16th. At the time, I think she was probably weighing around 13.5-14 pounds. We’ll go for her 9 month checkup in a few weeks, so we’ll get her official weight and height then. At 8 months old, Abigail is nursing about 5 times per day. She is doing great with it, other than being REALLY easily distracted. If Travis or anyone comes into the room to talk while she is nursing, she will pause, twist around and check to see who it is, and then eventually start eating again (if I’m lucky). She always has to know what’s going on. It reminds me of her biggest sister, Brooklyn :)

The biggest news is that Abigail is now officially SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT. She usually goes to sleep anywhere between 8:30 and 9 PM and is waking up between 6 and 7:30 AM. She is also taking a pretty good morning nap these days (between 1-2 hours long). Her afternoon naps are still more like cat naps here and there.

New physical milestones this month: Abigail can now roll over from her back to her belly with ease. I think this is part of the reason she is finally sleeping better at night—I think she’s sleeping on her belly now, and she just sleeps more soundly that way. She can also sit up unassisted for about a minute at a time before toppling over. She is definitely getting stronger!

Abigail loves to chew on everything! She especially loves gnawing on our fingers and chewing on her feet. Thankfully, she doesn’t have any teeth yet!

See what I mean?

I love those little feet!

Lastly, Abigail has tried a few baby food purees this month. Her first food was rice cereal on March 29th. She made faces and choked on it a little bit, but she did manage to get a few bites down. I’m not sure she was a huge fan. She has also tried sweet potato, winter squash, and banana. She hated winter squash, but loved banana! I bet we have another fruit lover on our hands :)

We love you, Abigail! I promise to do better for your 9 month post! :)
