Brooklyn pregnancy #2 running

13 Weeks, My Birthday, Liz Hurley 5K, etc…

Another week…another random assortment of updates on what’s been happening. In fact, A LOT has happened in the last week. Here goes nothing…

13 Weeks: Yesterday marked 13 weeks along. Hooray for the start of the 2nd trimester! Everything is still going great. We had our appointment with Dr. Gonzalez on Tuesday, and that went really well. We did the ultrasound first, and we got to see the baby’s spine, heart valves, fingers, toes, etc. It’s so neat that you can see that level of detail this early! Everything looked good. The baby was a wiggle worm the whole time. Heart rate was in the 140s. They will call me next week with the results of the blood work we did (that gives the baby’s risk of having Down syndrome, Trisomy 18, or Trisomy 13). Dr. Gonzalez didn’t seem worried about the whole Kell antigen/antibody thing IF Travis really is negative for the antigen. He has been tested twice, and we’ve been told the results were negative both times. Those results are being sent to Dr. Gonzalez’s office just so he can see for himself (and to make sure the correct test was ordered). If Travis really is negative, then we can stop worrying about this whole thing. Yay!

Now check out the 13 week “bump” with Brooklyn…

Much smaller!!

The interesting thing is that I’ve only gained about a pound so far, so I guess my weight is just shifting around…haha. Hopefully I won’t end up like a whale by the end! :)

Baby Ultrasound #3, 20141021

Baby Grant #2 was moving around so much that this picture isn’t awesome, but oh well. We were able to find out the gender (yay!!!), but we are going to tell our families over the next few days before we make it public. Can’t wait to share! Anyone have a guess…boy or girl??

By the way, there are currently FIVE pregnant ladies at church right now (including me). Last night, we got a picture with four of us in it. We need to get one with all five of us in the next couple of weeks! We are running out of time though! :)

Alisha is due in a couple of weeks, Leah and Caitlyn are due in February, and I’m bringing up the rear in April! (Vera, who wasn’t there last night, is also due in February). Must be something in the water!!

My Birthday: Monday was a good day! Brooklyn and I went to a playground in Madison off County Line Road that we’d never been to before. The weather was perfect for playing outside! Then, we just stuck around the house that afternoon. Monday night, Travis took me out on a date…just the two of us!! Woo hoo! We went to Pane y Vino right by the Huntsville Museum Of Art and Big Spring Park. It was a nice evening, so we ate outside. The pizza was good, and we had a great night! Thank you, Cici and Melissa, for keeping Brooklyn for us for a few hours :)

“I keep mommy on her toes.” – No truer words have ever been spoken…haha!

Liz Hurley 5K: This was my fourth year to run in this race, and I really do enjoy it every year. It’s neat to see how many people support the fight against breast cancer. So many people are affected by the disease or have a family member/friend that has been. This year, Travis hadn’t been training, so he just stuck with me and encouraged me along. Of course, I’ve been running a few days a week, and he still could have beat me by 5 minutes if he’d tried. My goal was to finish in under 30 minutes, and of course, my official time said 30:00. Go figure. Back when I was actually decently fast in high school, I was trying to break 21 minutes in the 5K, and what was my time? 21:00.03. Seriously???? Anyway, according to my watch on Saturday, my time was 29:56, so I’ll go with that :) The weather was perfect for running! Tyler and Alisha came to watch and keep Brooklyn while we ran, so that was a big help. She cried when we left to go to the starting line, but she was apparently fine after that.

Gran just had a mastectomy on Monday for a small lump in the same breast that she had breast cancer in 20 years ago, and she is doing really well so far in her recovery. Go Gran! :)

Brooklyn: I REALLY need to start writing down what she is saying/doing that’s new each week because I’m having a hard time remembering when I sit down to blog about it. Baby brain has returned!

Yesterday, Brooklyn walked around the corner and looked like this:

IMAG3040

Yes, she’s figured out how to take her shirt off. This could get interesting. At the grocery store yesterday, she figured out how to take one arm out of her sleeve. I’m lucky she wasn’t flashing the other customers at Publix…haha.

IMAG3037

This is Brooklyn throwing a tantrum about something. She put herself in the corner…lol.

This is Brooklyn’s latest selfie. I didn’t find it on my phone until a day later.

We ate at Baugay’s for lunch on Sunday, and Brooklyn enjoyed playing with Aunt Pam after lunch. They were playing a game of “looking for Brooklyn”. They looked under the couch, table, and china cabinet. It was hilarious!!

New words: “ha kee” (ice cream), down (“let me down”), bi (“give me a bite”), “Ah-am” (Adam), “EE” (Eve), “wing” (swing)

Speaking of “Adam and Eve”, the other day Brooklyn was looking at her Bible, turned to the story of Adam and Eve being thrown out of the garden, and pointed to the woman, and said “EE” (Eve)! I couldn’t believe it! We hadn’t talked about that story at all that day or anything. Then, I asked her to point to Adam, and she did! Now, she can point out both Adam and Eve on that page and call them by name. It’s incredible!

I think I keep forgetting to mention about how much Brooklyn loves to say “Amen” at the end of a prayer. She is especially enthusiastic about it at church. She is probably the loudest “Amen-er” there! It usually comes out “EEE-men!!!”. It’s very sweet!! She is obviously listening for the end of the prayer because she has even said it before Travis once or twice…haha.

Just in the past couple of weeks, she has also gotten really interested in holding hands during prayers too. Whenever we are about to pray (especially at home before supper), she will say, “Han! Han!” and hold out her hand. What’s funny is that she will hold my hand with one of hers and use her free hand to eat while Travis prays…haha.

We went back to the same playground yesterday that we tried out on Monday, and Jessica and her boys joined us. Brooklyn, who has no fear, loved the big kid slide both days. It’s probably 8 or 9 feet high, and she would climb the stairs all the way to the top. I had to follow her up a billion times and slide down with her in my lap. She even went down by herself once or twice. What a daredevil!

Whenever Brooklyn hears thunder or an airplane, she says “Ray” (rain). That’s also her word for rainbow.

She has had a runny nose for at least 2 weeks now with no other symptoms. I guess it’s just the changing seasons?? Hoping it goes away soon!

That’s all I can think of for now. She definitely keeps us laughing at this stage (when she’s not testing us or throwing tantrums). She’s so much fun!! :)
