I’m not sure what it is, but Brooklyn is looking so big in this picture! It’s hard to believe she will be 2 in another month.
She actually sat down and let me take a few pictures of her this week. That hasn’t happened in quite a while. Usually, it’s more fun to NOT sit still and make all of Mommy’s pictures turn out blurry :)
We thoroughly enjoyed having Travis off and home with us for 2 whole weeks. It was a much needed break for all of us! I was able to get so many things done that I’ve been wanting to do (like work on our garage project, organize my boxes of gift wrap, go through our clothes to pull out stuff to donate, edit pictures on the computer, etc.). During a normal week, I never get around to stuff like that, or I’m too tired even if I have time to do it. So, it was very nice!
Daddy wanted a back rub one night, so Brooklyn laid down near him. I guess she was hoping she’d get one too! :)
Although we were disappointed in the outcome of the Sugar Bowl, we still enjoyed watching it together as a family and eating pizza. I also caught Brooklyn on camera saying “Roll Tide!” Hopefully, that phrase will stick with her for the rest of her life ;) Brooklyn actually went to bed before the game started, but she was cheering for the Tide in her dreams I’m guessing.
A couple of ladies from church planned a dinner at Olive Garden on Monday night for the 4 pregnant moms at KSR. The other 3 moms are due in February, and I’m bringing up the rear in April. It will be weird when they’ve all had their babies, and I’m the only one left! Unfortunately, Vera wasn’t able to make it that night, but Caitlyn, Leah, and I were all there. It was such a nice evening (and a nice little toddler-free getaway), and I really enjoyed it!
Caitlyn, me, and Leah
Brooklyn has definitely enjoyed helping me eat the leftover cake that I brought home from the dinner! Bless her…that girl has my sweet tooth for sure! :)
Speaking of being pregnant, yesterday I was 24 weeks along! I also had my 24 week checkup yesterday, and everything went great. Savannah’s HR was in the 150s, and I hadn’t gained as much weight as I was afraid I might have from all the junk food I’ve been eating. I think I’m up about 10 pounds or so at this point. I’m still feeling pretty good, although I’ve been pretty tired lately. I’m going to blame that on Brooklyn who is yet again NOT sleeping through the night. Argh. Why did I think that once she started “sleeping through the night” at a couple of months old that she would forever sleep through the night? I was so naive!! :( Anyway, other than being tired and having an extremely itchy belly (which happened last time with B), everything is good. Last night, I asked Travis to scratch my belly, and he just laughed. We’re an old married couple by this point, so I thought it was a legitimate request ;) My next appointment will be at 28 weeks, and we’ve got our 4D ultrasound scheduled for that same day. I’m excited to see Savannah’s sweet face again!

Unfortunately, it has turned bitterly cold around here, but we did manage to sneak outside for an hour earlier this week when it was “warm” – a.k.a. 50 degrees or so. Brooklyn just loves to be outside, and I love her being outside because that means she’s not destroying the house…haha. I’m already looking forward to the weather warming back up, but I’m trying not to complain too much about the cold. Although, I was definitely not in a good mood this morning when our heat wasn’t working. Travis came home and messed with it, and it seems to be working for the time being, so hopefully nothing is really wrong with it. Fingers crossed, because it’s supposed to be another cold night :)
My uncle Gary was sworn in as a member of Congress on Tuesday, and since we couldn’t be there in person, Brooklyn and I took the opportunity to watch some of the coverage on C-SPAN for the first time ever. I didn’t even know what channel it came on, but we finally found it. They were showing the members voting for the Speaker of the House. Brooklyn loved it! She got a big kick of out of repeating the names of each person and who they voted for. She got really good at saying “Boehner” after a while. It was pretty funny! :)
Yesterday was Brooklyn’s first Music Together class. It was my idea to sign her up for the class, but Paw and Rae Rae actually paid for it as part of her Christmas present. It’s once a week for 10 weeks, and basically we just sing, clap, and play “instruments” for about 45 minutes or so. Brooklyn loved it! She was one of the only kids who’d never done it before, but she was not shy at all. She ran around, sat in the middle of the circle, danced and clapped, and had a big time. It was so cute. I didn’t get any pictures or videos because I was trying to learn the songs myself, but I will try to do that next week. We are already looking forward to it! We are also thinking about signing Brooklyn up for swim lessons next month, so we don’t have to worry about that after Savannah is here this summer. Don’t worry, it would be at an indoor pool. We aren’t that crazy! :)
So, between music classes and swim lessons, Brooklyn is going to be one busy “B” for the next few weeks! Should be fun though!
One reply on “Trying to Stay Warm”
So sorry I missed the dinner Monday night. I wouldn’t have been good company. Glad it went well! I bet Brooklyn will love swim lessons. This is the perfect time for them! That really brings back memories ( :
