Moving on, I’ll cover what we were up to in March:
Dr. Savannah giving her baby doll a checkup :)
Can you spot my little laundry helper?
Favorite game of the month: Brooklyn enjoyed giving Abigail her finger and then snatching it away when she tried to gnaw on it :)
Jumping is hard work! (Sidenote: This was when Abigail’s scalp was probably looking its worst…she was scratching it like crazy)
I’m noticing a common theme…
Now that we are in our “forever” home, we are slowly planning to replace some furniture and other household items. First big purchase was this new media console! Our old one screamed “college kid”, and we had been using it since we got married, so I was ready for something a little nicer. We found it at Nadeau and are loving it so far! My favorite thing about it is that it hides all of the cables and wires in the back :)
Michael is always happy to hold Abigail on Sundays at Cici’s house…
March 7th – Brooklyn and Savannah decided to have their own music class at home :) I loved how they lined up all the stuffed animals around the blanket and sang together while Brooklyn played the drum. We have really enjoyed doing Music Together over the last couple of years, and I think it has really helped the girls appreciate all different kinds of music.
March 7th – Abigail started reaching for the toy bar on her bouncer!
Abigail’s 6 month checkup was on Thursday, March 8th. It’s pretty interesting trying to take all three kids to the doctor by myself, so I’m always thankful when Travis can meet us there. While we were there, Abigail rolled over from her tummy to her back on the examination table. She was showing off her skills for Dr. Dudley! :)
This was definitely before Abigail started grabbing our plates and utensils off the table…haha
On March 9th, the Madison library hosted a free event called “Once Upon A Winter’s Night”. I think it was supposed to be back in February, but they ended up having to postpone it. They had a puppet show, story time, crafts, face painting, etc. Brooklyn especially enjoyed the puppet show and laughed out loud when the puppets did silly things :)
The main reason I wanted to go was that I’d heard that Cinderella, Belle, and Aurora would be there to meet the kids and take pictures, and Savannah loves princesses! Well, let’s just say I’m glad we didn’t spend any money to meet them ;) When it was our turn for a picture with Belle, Savannah just stood off to the side and did her famous Pookie scowl. One lady in line said, “That’s the best face I’ve seen all night!” At least Brooklyn enjoyed it :)
Princess Aurora was mingling and dancing with the kids in a different room, so we headed there next. Savannah had drawn a picture for Sleeping Beauty that week and was so excited to give it to her…
She slowly walked over near her and handed her the picture…
…but I’m not sure she was ever brave enough to speak to her. It was progress at least!
Of course, Brooklyn wasn’t shy!
Next, we got in line for face painting…
Brooklyn asked for a rainbow!
Savannah got a heart painted on her hand (at my suggestion) :)
Cheese!
They also had craft stations set up where you could make princess crowns and dragons…
I’m pretty sure Brooklyn’s dragon had so much glue on it that it took a couple of days to dry out completely!
The last princess we met was Cinderella. Savannah got a little braver and actually stood fairly close by :) I think she still had fun that night even though she feeling pretty shy.
Outside, they had snacks and a bubble machine, so that was a big hit before we left. On the way home, Brooklyn told me her favorite parts of the evening were the puppet show and face painting. Savannah’s favorites were the puppet show and bubble machine. We had a great time! I’m always a fan of free family activities :)
Painting fun on a Saturday morning…
On Sunday, March 11th, I helped with a baby shower for Danielle that was held at Cheryl’s house. I didn’t take too many pictures, but it was a great afternoon! We had a good turnout and she got so many cute things for baby Hannah :)
I loved the storybook centerpiece!
Travis and the girls picked me up on the way to church so we could get to Bible drill class on time. It was a busy but good Sunday!
Brooklyn’s 5 year checkup was on Monday, March 12th. She was a little nervous about it, but everything went well. No shots or finger pricks, so she was relieved! Savannah enjoyed sitting on the table with Brooklyn like a big girl. When Dr. Dudley came in, she was asking Brooklyn about what she liked to do for fun, and Brooklyn was having trouble coming up with an answer. I prompted her: “What do you like to do when you put your helmet on?” She replied, “Ride my bike!” And then Savannah piped up, “BUT….I don’t wear a helmet anymore!” (because the only other one we had was too small). And she kept going on and on about how she didn’t wear a helmet when she rode her “bike” (tricycle)…haha. We were all dying, and I think our faces were probably bright red. So Dr. Dudley told Savannah to take her mommy and daddy to the store to buy her a helmet that fits! :) I’m sure that won’t be the last time that one of our kids tells on us!
The new library has a really nice play area for the kids with plenty of chairs and couches for parents. The girls always enjoy playing for a little while after storytime!
On March 15th, we went on our first walk around the neighborhood–to the playground by the clubhouse. I love that our house is so close to the clubhouse…I think we are only 9 houses away, so it’s an easy walk to get there. The girls took off down the sidewalk, and Abigail and I followed behind :)
The playground isn’t very big, but it’s better than what we currently have at our house: nothing! :)
I was impressed that Savannah climbed the rock wall all by herself!
Wheeee!
Abigail was happy to hang out in the stroller, which made things much easier on me. Sweet baby!
When Brooklyn found out that Ms. Marilyn was coming to babysit later in the week, she wanted to draw a bunch of pictures to decorate the house for her. They love Ms. Marilyn!
This was just a few of the pictures the girls drew…
March 20th was National Free Cone Day. We went to Dairy Queen after supper and enjoyed a yummy treat :)
On March 21st, Abigail had her first appointment with the ENT doctor to get her hearing checked after the abnormal results from the audiologist. This was the appointment where we found out she had fluid on her right ear, and she started 2 medications to see if we could clear that fluid up.
I feel like I’ve adjusted pretty well to having three kids by this point. I was already used to juggling the needs of multiple kids, so adding one more isn’t really that much different. But, one area that has suffered big time since Abigail was born is my ability to keep up with weekly household tasks like laundry, meal planning, cleaning, etc. There just doesn’t seem to be enough time to do everything that I need to do. Anyone want to come be my nanny/maid/cook? :)
Sister time!
“What’s in that cup, Daddy?”
P.S. It’s dangerous to live so close to Sonic. 1/2 priced shakes and slushes after 8 PM?? Perfect timing to get a treat after the kids go to bed ;)
Brooklyn got these sticky mosaics for her birthday from Aunt Jenn and Uncle Chandler. She LOVED putting them together and still plays with them months later.
Finished the ambulance! She also made a police car, helicopter, and fire truck. They were simple enough that she was able to do them without much help from me.
So sleepy!
Brooklyn also got this bird house kit for her birthday from Ivey and Ruthie. I helped her assemble it, and she had fun painting it!
It’s bright and colorful, so hopefully the birds will like it ;) It’s been sitting on our kitchen counter for months now waiting for me to seal it so that it will be weather proof and safe to hang outside. One of these days, I’ll get around to that…I hope.
My snuggle bug
On March 26th, we went walking with Jessica, Baker, and Iyla (their new baby) at a trail in Athens. We hadn’t seen them in forever, so it was good to catch up.
That night, we ate a quick supper at Chick-fil-a before going to Travis’s cousin Zach’s Eagle Scout ceremony…
It’s ironic that we have a playroom upstairs in our house, and most of the time the girls bring their toys downstairs to play in the living room. I keep telling them if they’d just play in the playroom, they wouldn’t have to clean it up every day, but so far the lesson hasn’t stuck :)
The coffee table makes a good spot for an indoor picnic!
On March 29th, Abigail sat in her high chair seat for the first time ever. She looked so tiny in it! I had made some rice cereal baby food, so we went ahead and tried it that night. It wasn’t great timing because it was she was tired and we were trying to clean up after supper…
This was pretty much her reaction…haha. She made faces and choked on it a bit…
“This doesn’t taste like Mommy milk!”
She opened her mouth a couple of times for a bite, but I didn’t try to feed her more than a few bites before we called it a night. I think it went well for her first time!
She tried sweet potatoes on March 31st and ate every bite of it. She did really well! (If she vomited profusely afterward, I didn’t catch it. Or maybe it didn’t happen because it was her first time to eat it. Either way, that time went great!).
March 31st – Brooklyn traced and colored this butterfly without any help. We were so impressed!
Quotes and Notes from March:
- One day, Savannah was singing: “Oh be careful little ears what you do!” Gotta watch out for those unruly ears :)
- Savannah also says, “Thank you for the nummy nummy meal” – too cute!
- 3/27/18 – Abigail is now rolling over from back to tummy. Still haven’t seen her do it 3-4 days later…it’s always in her crib in the middle of the night ;)
Apparently, I slacked on taking notes in March. Hopefully April will be better! Thanks for reading!
One reply on “The Month of March”
Loved the music class with all the animals!
