This has been an interesting week so far.
Monday was the first day of Kids Market. Brooklyn and I got there right before it opened at 9 AM, and we shopped for about an hour or so. I was able to find some 24 month/2T clothes and a few pairs of shoes before her patience ran out. It’s not quite as easy to take her shopping as it used to be! I decided we better check out quick before B really got antsy, so we got in line before it got too long. Surprisingly, she fell asleep in the checkout line…haha! I was kind of disappointed with what I bought this year; when I got home and took everything off the hangers, I found 2 pairs of pants with holes in them, and one shirt with a big stain that was “hidden” behind the tag. I know that’s my fault for not looking at everything closer, but it’s just irritating that people would sell stuff like that. I’ll be more careful next time! I probably won’t go back until next Friday when the 50% off sale starts.
Cheerios kept her happy for a little while…
Shop ’til you drop!
Yesterday, Travis found out at about lunchtime that he would have to work overtime last night, so he didn’t get home until about 8:30 PM. It wouldn’t be that bad except that he couldn’t just grab something for supper since we’re still doing Whole 30. Most fast food isn’t Whole 30 approved, of course. He’ll be working late tonight and tomorrow night too, so I’m having to pack him breakfast, lunch, and dinner to take with him. At least he won’t starve! Melissa, his sister, is also spending the night with us this week, and Travis is having to go twice a day to feed the dogs and cats at Uncle Allen’s, so things have just been really hectic. I’m hoping that all this overtime is NOT going to become the norm for Travis, but who knows. He’s on a new project at work, so it’s really too early to tell what to expect. He’s either been staying late at work or working at home almost every night lately :(
We’re on Day 19 of our Whole 30, so we’re over halfway!! So far, it’s really gone great. We went to a wedding on Saturday, and being around cake and Steel City Pops didn’t even bother me that much. I guess that’s progress!
Brooklyn didn’t mind trying one though!
Yum!
I can also tell that my skin is much softer and clearer, and I’m sleeping well and feeling rested in the mornings. I cheated and got on the scale this morning, and I’ve also lost 5 lbs! It makes a big difference in how my clothes fit. I’m really enjoying eating this way except for all the prep and cleanup that all this cooking requires. It’s a lot of work (and expense!) to eat healthy! We’re lucky to spend less than $150/week on groceries…ouch!!

I’m trying not to get too stressed out about everything that’s going on between now and July 12th, but I think it’s getting the best of me. I feel like there are so many things on my to-do list that I can’t even figure out what to do first! It’s going to be a fun but super busy spring and summer. I’m getting a massage Friday afternoon after work, and it couldn’t be coming at a better time.
Brooklyn turned 13 months old last week, and she’s growing and changing all the time. She has started to stand *sometimes* without holding onto anything. Last weekend, she stood for 10 seconds by herself without falling! Yay! She just hasn’t gotten comfortable enough yet to let go for very long, but she’s fine as long as she has one hand holding on…haha! She is also getting very independent; she doesn’t want me to brush her teeth anymore…she just wants to hold it herself and chew on it! She also wants to hold her sippy cup herself a lot of times and feed herself too. I guess she’s growing up :) She has started giving “high fives”, although I don’t think she really knows what she’s doing. She also likes to point at pictures of herself, but she always points her finger down at the ground. It’s so funny! She loves to say “Mmmmmmmm” while she eats. Her favorite word is still “dog” by far, and she calls everything “dog” including our cats. Speaking of cats, Gabby scratched Brooklyn last week for the first time. Brooklyn loves to chase Gabby and head-butt her if she gets close enough, and that day Gabby had just had enough. It wasn’t a bad scratch, but it did make Brooklyn cry for a minute. She didn’t learn her lesson though because she was chasing Gabby a little while later. I need to supervise her more closely, obviously :)
Standing up by herself!
Could she be any cuter???
Cat scratched :(
Well, since I have so much to do, I guess I shouldn’t waste it by blogging. Hopefully this blog won’t fall by the wayside between now and July!!

Working on my blog post today too… Charles woke up when it was about halfway though lol. Anyway, yey for your Whole30!! And staying strong around Steel City Pops… wow. Were y’all in Bham for the wedding?
I might be at Kids Market next Friday too. Maybe we can coordinate and introduce our kiddos!
Charles is so cute! I loved his pictures in your post today :)
Yep, the wedding was in the Bham area. That was the second wedding we’ve been to that had Steel City Pops in place of a groom’s cake. I think it’s such a neat idea!
I’d love to see you and meet Charles. I’m working next Friday until 2 PM, so I probably won’t get to Kids Market until about 2:30 or so. If you’re there around then, come find me! I’ll be in the little girls clothes/shoes area :)
