That’s what Brooklyn’s been doing a lot of lately!
Sleeping and smiling.
Just in the last week or two, she has started smiling a lot! I can usually get her to smile just by smiling at her and asking her to smile. So cute!! She has to be in the mood to smile though. She still has that serious look on her face most of the time. The best time to get her to smile is after she eats…she’s happy when that belly is full!
She has also started “talking” more and more in the past week or so. Cooing is so much better than grunting…although she still does a lot of that too! Lately, we’ve also been able to put her in her crib awake at night and let her fall asleep on her own. That has been really nice! I think she’s definitely getting used to sleeping in her crib, although she still sleeps with us sometimes.
Nursing has continued to be a struggle over the past week, but I’m still hanging in there. I can add dried sage to the list of things I’ve tried to help my situation. Didn’t work! :( I’m now taking an antihistimine for a few days to see if that will do any good. I never thought I’d have so much milk that I’d be trying to dry it up some! If the antihistimine doesn’t work, I’ve ordered sage tea online, so I’ll be trying that next. There’s also Sudafed and low-dose estrogen birth control pills that are supposed to reduce milk supply. I’m crossing my fingers that something will work so that I don’t go crazy!! We’ve also kept trying to feed her from a bottle, and we still haven’t found one that she’ll drink from. Guess I need to run to the store and buy some different brands. Travis’s marathon is in 2 1/2 weeks, and I wasn’t planning on taking her with us! We are planning to leave her with my parents for Friday night and Saturday, but I guess if she won’t take a bottle, we’ll have to resort to plan B.
Speaking of the race, Travis hurt his leg Monday night when he was running. He had to walk back home because he didn’t want to risk any further injury. He was having pain on the front of his lower leg down near his ankle. He’s hoping that taking a few days off will help, and that he’ll still be able to run! I hope so too…he’s been training since October for this, so it would be a huge disappointment if he couldn’t do it. He did great on his 20 mile run Saturday, so I know he can run 26.2 miles if he’s healthy!
Well, that’s about all that’s going on around here. We’re looking forward to a visit from Rae Rae, Grandpa, Uncle Bill, and Aunt Gale tomorrow! Hopefully the weather will cooperate, and they can come…I think there’s a chance of bad weather :( Thanks to Mom, at least we’ve got those helmets we can put on if we need to..haha :) Brooklyn even has one, although I think it’s probably too big for her right now! Gotta be prepared :)
Oh, one last thing. Travis was looking in his desk drawer last night, and he ran across this picture…
Remember how we got conflicting guesses on the baby’s gender back in the fall? Here’s the proof! I think I’ll be saving this in Brooklyn’s baby book…haha :)
Hope you’re having a fabulous Wednesday!
