I have been glued to the coverage of the Boston Marathon bombing for the past week. I think part of that has to do with the fact that Travis has been training for a marathon for the past 6 or 7 months. It was horrible enough to watch the videos and see pictures of what happened, but I can’t imagine actually being there in person. Those guys just looked like normal people, and there they were…walking among innocent people that they were about to harm. It sends chills up my spine.
Travis’s marathon is this Saturday in Nashville. I’m not really worried about our safety, but it is ironic that this happened only a couple of weeks before we’re at a marathon. They are going to have increased security, so it will probably be safer this year than ever.
Unfortunately, the last time Travis tried to run a week and a half ago, his leg started hurting again after only 2 miles, so he had to stop. He hasn’t run since, so here’s to running 26.2 miles after a couple of weeks off! He is hoping that the rest will have given his leg time to heal, and I really hope so too. It would be a huge bummer to train that long for this and not be able to finish.
This weekend will also be our first night spent away from Brooklyn since she was born. Mom and Dad are going to stay at our house while we’re gone and babysit for us. Hopefully they won’t regret their offer! :) We were originally planning to take her with us, but we quickly realized that was a horrible idea. It would be really difficult to navigate those crowds with a stroller and a baby! Plus, this week it seems like she has been especially fussy, so she probably wouldn’t do very well at the race anyway. Mom and I did figure out that she will definitely drink from a bottle when she’s hungry, so at least she won’t starve while we’re gone :) And one good thing about my problem of having too much milk is that at least we have a freezer full for weekends like this! :)
Here are some pictures of Miss B from the past couple of weeks…
Hope you’re having a great week! I’ll be back next week with a recap of Travis’s race!!
