Brooklyn fall running work

October Love

I love October. It is, by far, the best month of the year (and not just because it’s my birthday month!). The weather is perfect…not too hot, not too cold. It’s a really nice time to eat supper outside on our new patio furniture! The leaves are starting to change colors. There’s plenty of football games on TV. Halloween candy is starting to go on sale…haha.

But, my newest reason for loving October is because that’s usually when the fall Kids Market sale is held. If you know me very well, you know that I love a good deal, so getting baby clothes at a steal is right up my alley. The sale runs two weeks and started yesterday, so of course, Brooklyn and I headed up there bright and early yesterday morning. I ended up spending a little more than I was planning to, but I got some really cute stuff. It was around $68 for 26 items of clothing…not bad!

Kids MarketMy favorite finds were a Gap sweater dress for $2, a cute “Roll Tide” shirt for $3, and a shirt that says “My grandma’s a hoot” for $2. It takes a while to look through all of the clothes, so by the time we were finished, the line to check out was wrapped all way to the back of the store and even around the side! Brooklyn was a trooper though and was still smiling and giggling even while we were waiting in line for an hour.

IMAG0733Good job, Miss B! I didn’t even get to look at anything else besides the clothes, so I’m planning to go back at least another time or two. At the end of next week, everything is 50% off, so I’ll definitely be back then. Sorry, Travis. Sort of :)

_DSC3246Now that it’s October, I figured it’s acceptable to dress my “little pumpkin” in festive attire, so here you go. Thanks to Rae Rae, she’s already got a Halloween costume…hehe. Maybe she won’t mind if we eat her Halloween candy :)

I’ve also got a few home improvement projects up my sleeve right now. I’ve bought some chalk paint, and I’m going to use it to spruce up our dining room chairs. I’m planning to recover them in new fabric after painting them too. I’ll be sure to post “before and after” pictures once I’m finished. We also may be getting new tile floors in our kitchen and bathrooms *depending on whether or not Travis is still getting a paycheck after tomorrow…thank you, very considerate government leaders. I can’t wait to say goodbye to the nasty laminate flooring in our bathrooms and the peel-and-stick vinyl in our kitchen. This is a much needed upgrade!

The Liz Hurley 5K is about 2.5 weeks away, so I’ve been slowly getting back into running. I can run 3 miles (slowly) without feeling like I’m going to die…success! This year, the men and women will be running together, so looks like I’ll have to beat Travis. Haha…not going to happen…

Well, I guess that’s about it for the news around our house. Here’s to hoping we still have income after tomorrow. How else are we going to afford my Kids Market shopping marathons??? :) I guess Travis can always be Mr. Mom full time, and I can start working more than my usual one day a week at the hospital. All I know is worrying about it doesn’t change anything, so I’m not going to. In the big picture, we are really, really blessed and have nothing to complain about!
