We had a really great long weekend! We logged a lot of miles on my car going to Trussville/Birmingham for a wedding and then to the lake house with my parents. I definitely wasn’t ready for Travis to go back to work today…it was nice having him around for 5 days in a row!
Aimee and Gary’s rehearsal and rehearsal dinner were Thursday night at Samford, so we made a quick stop in Trussville for the afternoon before heading to the rehearsal. Brooklyn tried out her Bumbo seat for the first time, and of course, Rae Rae had a little bonding time with her favorite grandchild.
Since we weren’t planning to take Brooklyn to the wedding, we decided to bring her to the rehearsal/rehearsal dinner so some of our friends, including Gary and Aimee, could meet her. She really did great! She only got fussy for a few minutes the whole evening, and I managed to feed her truly in public for the first time. It was great to see some of our friends from college who we hardly ever get to see anymore.
Travis had to be at Samford early on Friday since he was a groomsman, so Brooklyn and I hung out with Mom for the afternoon. We went to see my grandparents at Greenbriar before Mom dropped me off at the wedding. Unfortunately, Brooklyn wasn’t very well behaved for Rae Rae that night! She decided she did NOT want to drink from a bottle, so it took Mom quite a while to get her to eat. (Hopefully, she’ll do much better with it this Friday, because that will be my first day back to work, and Travis will be keeping her for the day. I’m going to try working one day a week from here on out. We’ll see how it goes!) The wedding and reception were really nice. The weather was absolutely perfect, Aimee looked beautiful, and we got to spend more time with our friends. Couldn’t have been a better evening (at least for us….not Mom and B). Congratulations Gary and Aimee!
Saturday morning, we packed up our stuff and headed to the lake. It was a great way to cap off the weekend….yummy food, BEAUTIFUL weather, and time with family. It was Brooklyn’s first trip to the lake, her first time to sleep in her pack-n-play, her first pontoon ride, and first time “swimming” Lots of firsts! She did great!
We got back home last night, and the kitties were sure excited to see us! Gabby meowed and meowed, and even Felix greeted us in the kitchen when we came in. They hadn’t destroyed anything as far as I could tell, so that was a success. It was nice to be home after being gone for several days. Here’s to a great last week of May! June brings Travis’s birthday AND his first Father’s day, our annual trip to Fripp Island, and more weddings to go to. Should be fun and busy!
