Well, I’ve updated recently on Brooklyn turning 8 months old and on our recent family photo shoot, but there’s a lot of other stuff that’s been going on too…
I’m in the middle of a new project: painting our dining room chairs! The picture above is the “before” shot. Hopefully, I’ll be able to post the “after” shot soon. I spent all day last Monday painting them, and I only got 1 coat on each chair. Painting chairs is tedious work! I need to go back and touch them up with a second coat before distressing and waxing them. I’ve also got to pick out some new fabric for the seats…that should be fun! Can’t wait to show off the finished product :)
We’ve also been busy helping Travis’s mom, Cheryl, get ready to move into the house she just bought. We spent a couple of nights last week picking out new shelving and installing it in a broom closet in her kitchen that she wants to use as a second pantry. Then, Friday night and Saturday, it was time for the big move! Brooklyn and I didn’t get to help a whole lot (it’s hard to unload boxes while watching a baby on-the-go), but luckily she had a lot of help from family and friends. I wish I’d taken a picture of her new house; it really looks great!
Saturday was also the day of the Liz Hurley Ribbon Run 5K. Travis, Melissa, and I ran it this year. Brooklyn was just a spectator this year (as opposed to running “with” me last year). For the record, 5Ks are much easier when you aren’t pregnant! Cheryl, Tyler, and Alisha came to watch/take care of Brooklyn for us. This was my 3rd year to run it, and every year I’m always touched by the number of people there to support the fight against breast cancer. This year there were 6,500 runners! The weather was perfect, and I felt pretty good the whole time I was running. I guess I’ll never be as fast as I was in high school, but as long as I’m trying to stay in pretty good shape, I’ll be happy :)
We made sure Brooklyn was bundled up before we got there :)
Can it get any cuter than this???
I love you, Mom!!
Finished!
Our cheering section…Alisha, Cheryl, Tyler, and B
By the end, you’d have thought she was the one who’d been running 3.1 miles…
As if the weekend wasn’t busy enough already with moving and running a 5K, yesterday also happened to be my birthday. For some reason, 27 feels a lot older to me than 26. Maybe it’s because this year on my birthday, we have a baby…so my priorities have changed a lot since last October. I guess that’s what it is. Anyway, we had a family birthday party Saturday night to celebrate the 3 of us with October birthdays (after the run/move!), and yesterday we went out to eat at Longhorn’s. It was fun to celebrate with family.
Brooklyn and me on my birthday
I just love this outfit…another Kids Market find!
Travis got me this print from Etsy that I’d been wanting. I love the quote! I’m going to frame it and put it somewhere in the house. He also spoiled me with a gift card to a spa. Even Brooklyn got me a birthday card! :)
Of course, I have to end with a few random Brooklyn pictures (because she’s probably the most photographed baby in the world)…
Brooklyn is taking baths in the real bath tub now. She seems to enjoy it! Usually, the whole time I’m bathing her, she just chews on a yellow rubber ducky…haha. Whatever makes her happy!
Eating blueberries = Brooklyn with a goatee :)
B can get up on her hands and knees now…she just doesn’t know how to go anywhere yet!
Brooklyn seems to like her new walker. She doesn’t “walk” anywhere fast, but she likes all of the songs and animal noises it plays.
And last but not least, my little smiling thumb-sucker. So cute it’s scary! :)
I’m looking forward to (hopefully) a more relaxing week this week capped off by celebrating my birthday with my family and a trip to Tuscaloosa to watch the Tennessee game. Should be lots of fun!

Brooklyn is sooo cute! I can’t get over it either! Also, happy birthday!!!!! I hope it was a great one. I have a feeling that from here on out, I’m going to feel a lot older at every birthday now that I have a baby!
Brooklyn’s going to be crawling in no time… watch out! Sally got up on her hands and knees for a couple of weeks, and then one day it just clicked!
Also, can’t wait to see your finished chairs!
Thanks Joanna! I love reading about Sally too! It’s neat to see what B will be getting into soon :)
