The new year brought us tons of kitten snuggles and antics, new glasses, SNOW, birthday celebrations, and the flu! Here’s the recap:

Disco light dancing into the new year on January 1st…
…balanced with plenty of kitten time, of course. Willow and Cassie were still recovering from being spayed, so they continued to wear their dessert plate “cones” at least some of the time. (They weren’t big fans!). They also picked Travis as their favorite human–at least right out of the gate–which is hilarious ;)
On January 2nd, the girls rode their bikes to the greenway to explore around the creek. It was Brooklyn’s and Savannah’s first time to ride their new bikes to the greenway, and they did great!
Savannah worked hard to put some Star Wars LEGO sets together over the break! The girls also played Twister together on January 3rd.
I got a waffle maker for Christmas, and we tried it out for the first time on January 4th. The waffle recipe I found was really tasty – they turned out great and were easy to make! We also figured out that any leftovers reheat really well in the toaster…yay! :)

Brooklyn lost her LAST baby tooth on January 5th! It came out at her Salt Shakers get-together when she was eating pizza for lunch. Since this was her last baby tooth, the tooth fairy gave her $11 (since she is 11 years old). She is growing up too fast!

January 6th was the last day of Christmas break, and one thing that Savannah and Abigail did was work on a puzzle together.
The girls went back to school on January 7th, and the house was pretty quiet again. Travis had some company at work that day…the kitties must have been lonely. The girls couldn’t wait to snuggle and play with them when they got home!
Back to school in 2025!
Cassie and Willow like to explore all over the house! They’re so cute, though, that it’s hard to be very mad at them ;)
Big news this month: On January 8th, Savannah got glasses!! She had been telling us for a while that she was having a hard time seeing the board at school. I had taken her to the eye doctor about 8 months earlier than this, and he recommended waiting until 4th grade and reevaluating since her eyesight was borderline for needing them. She really only needs to wear them when looking at things far away. She wears them at church to see the screen and when watching TV. She takes them to school and uses them when she needs them, but doesn’t wear them all day. I was proud of her at the appointment because she really took her time deciding which frames to get. She narrowed it down to two pairs, and she tried both pairs on several times before finally going with one of them. I think she made a great choice, and they look really cute on her. She is excited to be able to see things at a distance better now!
So many kitten snuggles!!

We woke up to SNOW on January 10th – the kittens’ first snow. They were very interested in what was going on outside :)

I think this was the most snow at our current house that we’ve ever had!
School was closed, and we spent some of our morning over at Sarah’s house playing in the snow with her family. Emily and her girls also came over for a bit. We enjoyed throwing snowballs, making snow angels, and building a fort. Travis was able to join us, which made it extra special! Here are some of my favorite pictures :)
On our walk home, we saw that Gabriella and Mia were outside playing, so we stopped by their house for a few minutes.

Savannah insisted on going down the slide before we went inside for lunch!

The girls brought a snowball inside to see what Willow and Cassie thought of it :)
By that afternoon, sleet had started falling and melting the snow on the ground. We figured that there wouldn’t be enough left to play with by the next day, so we went back out to build a snowman and have another snowball fight. Emily’s kids and MJ and Gabriella joined us. One snowman turned into three after we rolled so much snow…haha. It was fun!
Dad and kittens were worn out after that! ;)
On January 11th, the girls worked on making some “houses” for Cassie and Willow out of cardboard boxes. They created Kitten Camp, Kitty Cat Cabin, and Kitty Cave :) They also made snow cream creations with food coloring and sprinkles.

All smiles for moving up into a booster seat :) Yay for no more 5-point harnesses!
When Willow and Cassie aren’t playing, they love cozy boxes and beds as well as cuddly humans :)
Savannah was accepted into the GE program this month at school and began going twice a week. It was a little bit of an adjustment coming in during the middle of the year, but she enjoyed the puzzles and some of the projects and activities they did.
Cassie plays hard and sleeps hard!

The 4th graders learned how to play the recorder in music class this year, and Savannah practiced a few of the songs at home to get ready for an upcoming performance.
You never know where you might find a kitten at our house–in the laundry basket, the dishwasher, or even the warm dryer!
On January 17th, we drove down to Trussville after school for a combined birthday celebration for Rae Rae and Christian. I don’t think she’s too sad that she has to share her birthday month ;) Can’t believe he’s already a year old (and counting)!
The next day was Christian’s official party with friends and family. The football theme was so cute, and we loved watching him make a big mess eating his cake :)

Speaking of football, Savannah is a big football fan! Her favorite player in the NFL is Jahmyr Gibbs, and she was happy to get the shirt to prove it :)
More pictures of our cute and curious kittens :)
Abigail lost another tooth on January 21st! I think this was tooth #5 :)
1st Grade celebrated the 101st day of school on January 22nd! Abigail was excited to dress up like a dalmatian and do several special activities throughout the day.

Abigail wrote Savannah a sweet note to go in her lunchbox on January 23rd wishing her a “super duper great day” :)
Savannah had a recorder concert for us in her room on January 25th–complete with snacks and a disco light! :)

The cousins were really into hula hooping this month at Sunday lunch :) Of course, it turned into a competition to see who could hula hoop the longest!

“Hey Dad! Can I have some of that food?”
Kitten pictures from the end of the month!
Brooklyn came home from school running a fever on January 28th, and it turned out that she had flu A when I took her to the doctor the next day. We were thankful to catch it pretty early so that she could take Xofluza and hopefully feel better faster. She obviously felt pretty crummy to be sleeping with an Alabama blanket on ;) Somehow, none of the rest of us caught it!

Abigail’s small group for reading in her class learned about planets this month!
Buildzi is a fun game that the girls all enjoy!
Abigail ended the month by going to Mia’s birthday party at Let’s Play. She had a fun time!!
