1st Grade 4th Grade 6th Grade Abigail birthdays Brooklyn Savannah Valentine's Day

February 2025

This month brought more snow, kitten cuddles, and birthday/Valentine’s Day festivities. Here’s the recap:

The girls went outside to play on February 1st, and Willow was sad that she got left inside ;)

She sure is cute!

Savannah and Abigail play school together sometimes, and Savannah is a very organized teacher. She makes report cards, permission slips for field trips, and sends home parent letters. I love it! :)

Our afternoon walks home from school changed somewhat starting around this month because of some roadwork that was being done right outside our neighborhood. We started walking home through the other neighborhood entrance, which made our walk a little bit longer than usual. One day, Abigail’s legs were getting tired, and Savannah gave her a piggyback ride up the hill. So sweet!

We co-hosted our annual Valentine party with the Broadwells on February 7th. This year, in addition to the usual Newlywed game, we also played a Bible couples trivia game. I tried to include a mix of well-known couples as well as some pretty obscure ones for the scholars in attendance ;) It was fun!

Cici was so sweet to let the girls spend the night at her house that evening, and she also invited the Loveless boys to make it a cousin sleepover. They had a blast!

Savannah had a snuggly reading buddy that evening…

The Super Bowl was on February 9th this year. It’s even more fun now that the girls are into football too. We usually try to get a stuffed crust pizza from Pizza Hut for the Super Bowl – I guess it was smelling good to Cassie too :)

Travis took Abigail and Savannah to the All Pro Dad meeting at school on February 10th. I’m thankful for these monthly opportunities for dads and their kids to spend time together at school!

A few random pictures from 1st grade this month. Not sure why Abigail was wearing a sleeveless shirt and shorts…haha. Must have had some warm weather?

The girls are always so happy to see the kittens when they get home from school :)

Savannah and Abigail participated in the Reflections art contest at school again this year. The theme was “Accepting Imperfection.” They were happy to get a certificate and some candy for their efforts :)

Sweet snuggling kitties!

I love this silly girl with a balloon under her shirt :)

Anytime we turn a faucet on, Cassie is right there to lick up the water ;)

Savannah worked on coding her own video game this month in GE!

The girls had a half day of school on February 12, which meant it was a House Day at Mill Creek. Savannah’s house family teamed up with another one for the morning, and Abigail got to stay in her classroom since Mrs. Pride is also her house mom! With MLK Jr. Day right around the corner, they worked on some “I have a Dream” hearts for the main hallway. I loved what Abigail put on hers!

Brooklyn turned 12 on February 13th (hard to believe!), and she opened a few gifts from us and from her sisters that evening.

Look who enjoyed playing in the gift bags afterward! :)

Sarah, Alison, and I volunteered for Duty Free Lunch at the middle school on February 14th (one of the few volunteer opportunities there are!), and we all showed up in pink for Valentine’s Day…haha. Naturally, we had to get a picture. Thankful for these good friends!

Savannah and Abigail enjoyed their Valentine’s Day activities at school. Abigail came home with a pizza box full of cards and treats. Savannah received a bag full of valentines as well!

We celebrated Brooklyn’s birthday that evening at Cici’s house, and she requested breakfast for dinner. It was a yummy spread and fun time together with cousins.

I’m convinced that we picked out the two sweetest kittens at the shelter!

Travis and I signed up to lead a small group for the first half of the year, and we hosted our first get-together on February 15th. This is the only picture I took…it cracked me up that the kittens were so friendly and content that they just took a nap in the middle of the living room with everyone over…haha.

“Thanks for putting clean sheets on the bed just for me, Mom!”

Rather than having a friend party this year for her birthday, Brooklyn decided on going out to eat at Freddy’s for lunch followed by shopping at Target. I gave her a budget, and she was excited to pick out just what she wanted with the money.

Brooklyn went to her friend Victoria’s band concert at the middle school on February 18th!

We woke up to SNOW on February 19th! It was more of a dusting compared to the snow we got back in January, but the girls still had fun playing in it with their friends. Abigail and Mia made a cute snowman mound using Oreos for the eyes :) The kids also played some soccer in the backyard.

Savannah made a model of the Earth’s layers at school using Playdoh, and she spent some time during her snow day to give Abigail a science lesson and help her make a Playdoh earth too :)

The girls enjoyed their snow day and were excited that there was a 2-hour delay to the next day of school as well. They discovered during their slow start to the day that Cassie will jump and attack flashlight spots on the wall…haha. It was very entertaining!

On February 21st, we met the Weatherfords for dinner and a Havoc game. We had no idea Sam and Greg’s in Huntsville would be so busy, so it ended up making us late for the hockey game, but we still got to see most of the it. This was the girls’ first hockey game in several years, and I think it was their first time to stay until the very end. Abigail didn’t love how loud it was at first, but she got used to it after a while. The Havoc won 4-2!

On February 22nd, Brooklyn and I went to dinner and a bible study with some of the middle and high school girls from church and a couple of other moms. We were studying the fruit of the Spirit, and it was very encouraging!

I don’t like to get into politics too much on my blog, but this has been a tough year for federal employees (like Travis). President Trump ended telework for federal employees when he took office, which was disappointing. We had really come to enjoy having Travis working from home since COVID, and he loved it too. This meme shows Trump’s attitude toward federal employees, which is really demoralizing for those who work so hard like Travis does. Trump created a policy for every employee to send in 5 “accomplishments” from each work week, and this Sponge Bob meme is poking at federal employees because they are lazy and don’t actually do any real work (in the eyes of he and many others).

For Travis’s first few days back to the office full time, we sent him with some encouraging lunch notes to cheer him up :)

This month, it was already time for Brooklyn to be thinking about her classes for 7th grade, which was wild. They get to rank their top 12 electives in order of preference before the counselors make their schedules over the summer. It blows my mind at how many elective options they have in middle school…way more than I even had in high school. You can tell from Brooklyn’s rankings that she enjoys art/writing way more than math and science ;)

More kitten antics from this month – carrying Beanie babies down from the playroom in their mouths, crawling on bookshelves and in the dishwasher, and napping wherever they please after their energy runs out :)

Savannah did a weaving project in art class at school and brought it home to finish.

The spring book fair at Mill Creek started at the end of the month, which is always exciting. The girls love book fair, and I do too! :)

Notes and Quotes from February 2025:

  • 2/2/25 – We were talking about where Abigail could find a Hello Kitty notebook that she was wanting to buy, and she said, “You just search it up online! You search up everything you don’t know about!” I guess the internet knows all ;)
