Eating Those Forbidden Foods

We did it! We finished our Whole 30 and lived to tell about it. The last couple of days were honestly the hardest for us. I think it was because we were SO close to the end that we were just ready to indulge in something “bad”. Sunday night at 9 PM, Travis was dying for a Coke. He kept begging me to let him go ahead and drink one. It was only 3 hours until we were finished!! What do the last 3 hours really matter? His mean ol’ wife told him he’d have to stay up until midnight if he wanted one though…hehe. (Which he didn’t do). I also gave him the option of starting over on Monday on Day 1…by himself. Hahaha…

We were definitely happy to be finished on Monday though! Travis took a PB&J, jalapeno chips, yogurt, and fruit to work for lunch, and he said it was like “an explosion of flavors”. HAHA! He was oohing and ahhing over the jelly to his co-worker (who probably thought he was crazy!), and Travis doesn’t even really like PB&Js that much…haha!! I have eaten some ice cream, and it was definitely tasty. I’m trying to be smarter about how much sweet stuff I eat though. I lost almost 7 lbs, and I’d like to keep it off! I’ve eaten salad with my lunch the past 3 days and really enjoyed it. We can definitely tell that we aren’t feeling as good as we did while we were on Whole 30 though.

Peanut butter-banana sandwich, salad, and an apple – I’m still doing pretty good :)

Tuesday night, we celebrated an extremely belated Valentine’s Day by going out on a date. Date nights are a rare occurrence these days, but they are so nice when they happen! We ate at Village Pizza and got ice cream at Sonic afterward. Talk about undoing our diet! It was so, so good though :) Thank you, Cici, for babysitting for us!!

Do the onions, bell peppers, and spinach make this pizza “healthy”? :)

Saturday, we went to Clay and April’s wedding at Green Mountain. It was surprisingly very cold for being almost spring. It was really windy and we were up on a mountain, so it was much colder than back at home. A lot of people from church pitched in to help out with their wedding, and we brought our camera to take some pictures for them. We got several that turned out pretty good. I would never want to be an official wedding photographer though…it would be way too stressful if people were paying me money to take pictures for them. But, we had fun pretending to be photographers for the afternoon!

Congratulations, Clay and April!

On Monday, Brady came over for a couple of hours while Melissa went to an appointment, so we enjoyed that a lot. It gave me a little taste of what life with two kids would be like! We played outside, went for a short walk, and put a puzzle together. The whole time Brady was here, he kept referring to Brooklyn as ‘he’ or ‘him’. (Brooklyn was wearing pink that day, but I guess that didn’t matter). I told Melissa about it when she got back to pick him up, and she informed Brady that Brooklyn was a ‘she’. Brady corrected her though by saying, “No, him’s a boy!” Hahaha…it was too funny! No wonder he probably doesn’t want to marry Brooklyn!

Fun times!

And, the video to prove it…

We’ve really been enjoying the warmer weather this week. I took Brooklyn outside one afternoon for a few minutes, and I think she enjoyed being out there. She doesn’t really know how to get around though since she’s not walking yet. She won’t crawl like normal on the patio or in the grass, and so she really just sits or stands there. It’ll be much more fun to play outside when she’s walking!

 What is this green stuff??

Okay, back to food for a minute. Brooklyn tried her first lemon the other day! I was cutting one up to make a marinade for some chicken, and she was whining and begging to try it. I figured she would make a funny face when she bit into it for the first time. Nope. She liked chewing on it, and she got mad when I took it away after a few minutes. Go figure with that crazy girl!

I think I like this thing!

She also tried a peanut butter and jelly sandwich the other day, and she ate the whole thing (plus applesauce and grapes) for lunch. It was a proud moment for her PB&J-loving mommy :)

Brooklyn is getting closer to walking each day! On Tuesday, she took one or two steps to me without holding onto anything. Then, at Cici’s while we were gone on our date, she took 4 steps! None of this was captured on camera or video though :( I’m hoping to catch her doing it again soon. Yay, Brooklyn!

Last night, I also saw the tip of her 5th tooth coming in. It’s on top on the right side. I think there are 3 others that won’t be far behind that one. Whew!! I’ll be glad when they’re all in, and maybe she’ll sleep better again (crossing my fingers).

And, I’ll end with my favorite Kids Market find from this year. This little outfit was handmade by someone, and I got it on the 50% off day for $6!! It is so cute! It’s just a little bit big right now, so I’m hoping she can wear it all summer.

Sometimes I look at that little cutie, and I think my heart might explode. I just love being her mom!!
