Brooklyn Easter friends

Easter 2014

I didn’t realize when we were picking the date for Mollie’s lingerie shower that it was the night before Easter. Whoops! I guess that may have cut down on the number of people that were able to come.

Anyway, I knew we would be up late cleaning up after the shower, so I decided to take some pictures of Brooklyn in her Easter dress on Saturday morning. I figured we would be too tired and rushed to take good pictures on Sunday morning before church. Her dress was a gift from David and Belinda Hartsell. They gave it to us last year in a big enough size to wear this year. It fit perfectly and was absolutely adorable on her…not that I’m biased or anything :)

I thought these pictures were some of the best I’ve ever taken of little miss B. She just looked SO cute! Travis helped out by standing behind me and making funny faces so that Brooklyn would smile. We got some great smiles out of her!

I’d like to get one of these printed on a big canvas, but I can’t decide which one! I have too many favorites :)

Sunday after church, Travis’s family came over to our house for lunch. Luckily, I didn’t have to make the food (thank you, Cici!). We had steaks (grilled by Travis), twice-baked potatoes, salad, and cake. So yummy! We celebrated Tyler’s and Emily’s birthdays about a week late since Emily couldn’t come home on her actual birthday. It was great to see her!

After everyone left, we took Brooklyn outside for her first ever Easter egg “hunt”. Technically, it’s considered ‘hunting’ when you scatter them out on the ground a few feet apart, right? Who knows? All I know is that Brooklyn thought it was great.

The only not-so-great part was crawling in the grass. This was her modified “grass crawl” :)

Egg sighting!

Showing off her find :) She LOVES holding things up and showing them to us…

She also liked taking the eggs apart. Little engineer in the works?

_DSC5007

_DSC5014 She even got the concept of putting the eggs into the basket. First, she had to dump the Easter grass out of the basket though :)

 What fun!

I think I like hunting eggs!

By the way…eggs ARE for eating, right?

Whoops! Lost my balance!

There’s always time for a thumbie :)

By the end, things got a little silly…

_DSC5083

Clap for Brooklyn! Yay! (That’s her cue, and she loves to clap for herself…haha)

She also loves to stick out her tongue when she sees us doing it!

So silly!

We ended the day by going out to eat with some friends who were all in town that we rarely get to see these days. It was a great way to cap off a wonderful weekend. Spending so much time with friends this weekend did make me a little sentimental about our time in Tuscaloosa. We had no idea how good we had it with so many of our good friends living in the same town. Those were the days! Don’t get me wrong…I love our life now. Brooklyn brings us so much joy that I would never want to go back to the days before she was born. But, a  small part of me does miss college life. I wish we could just get all of our friends to move up here :) But, I guess we’ll have to settle for reunions every once in a while. After we left the restaurant last night, Travis and I were talking on the way home about how great this weekend was. It’s really easy to get caught up in the daily grind of work/taking care of Brooklyn, so this weekend was a much needed reminder of how blessed we really are!
