Brooklyn has really developed a love for drawing/coloring over the last year. As you will see below, the walls of our house are covered with her artwork. She is so energetic and loves to be on-the-go, but it’s interesting that she will sit and draw for long periods of time with no problem. We go through paper and markers like crazy around here ;) I hate to throw any of her drawings away, but it would be impossible to save everything…there’s so much! We have a binder with some of her favorites in it, and others are hung around the house. At some point, we’ll have to go through those and purge again, so I decided to take pictures of my favorites. We can always look back at the digital copies if we want to in the future. Everything pictured below has been drawn in the last 6 months, just for reference. It’s been a few months since she’s drawn some of these, so I had to ask her what some of them were supposed to be ;) We love our little artist!
This one is Carter’s family :)
Brooklyn loves to draw rainbows! You’ll notice them in quite a few pictures…
I think this is supposed to be Lion King characters?
Bug’s Life :)
Brother and Sister Bear (from the Berenstain Bears)
Naturally, Savannah has gotten interested in drawing too. Up until recently, this is what most of her artwork looked like…multi-colored scribbles!
A picture of Cici and Carter – I love how the mailbox has a letter inside.
Mommy, Brooklyn, and Savannah…and some happy birds flying in the sky
Brooklyn told me this was a picture of our cat, Gabby…
Brooklyn claims this one is a rainbow too?
Here’s our family! Check out angry little Abigail and Travis’s big hair…haha
Here’s a farm with a garden, pig, cow, and blueberry bush!
Characters from the Lion Guard (a Disney Jr. show based on the Lion King)
I thought she did a pretty good job!!
Picture of Mommy
I love those big eyelashes :)
This one is Curious George and his friends, Betsy and Steve.
Brooklyn says this is a picture of herself :)
Condos at the beach…
Brooklyn (left) and Savannah (right)…it’s interesting that Brooklyn usually draws herself with curly hair even though her hair is pretty straight these days.
Savannah and Gabby
I liked how she made each petal of the flower a different color…
Brooklyn says this one is a merry-go-round
More smiling birds :)
Different fruits and desserts – grapes, banana, strawberries, blueberries, ice cream cone etc.
I think this is supposed to be Nemo, Dory, and Marlin (from Finding Nemo)
Sister Bear and Brother Bear
An airplane flying into the airport…
Most definitely a picture of Paw–the mustache and glasses are a dead giveaway!
Mike, Sulley, and Boo (from Monsters, Inc.)
Mommy, Brooklyn, and Savannah

Another Bug’s Life drawing–I loved the butterfly and ladybug!
Here’s the hallway leading to Brooklyn’s room…
Brooklyn riding on a caterpillar
Excuse the unmade bed…but this gives you an idea of how Brooklyn’s room is covered with her artwork :)
Another angle–looking back toward the door
Basically everywhere she can reach to hang pictures is covered. It’s incredible!
This one is a fire truck and a house on fire…
A castle
Daniel Tiger’s fish in a fish tank
L to R: Pluto, Donald, Mickey, Goofy, Minnie, and Daisy :)
We got Brooklyn a drawing book for Christmas that shows you step-by-step directions for drawing different things. I thought this dog turned out great!
Brooklyn also enjoys coloring, although she seems to enjoy drawing more.
A polka-dotted catfish :)
Sometimes she’ll use stickers to decorate her artwork too. Here’s Brooklyn holding a ladybug…
Rae Rae holding a bird
Rainbow tiger
A rainbow shark
I think this was the first picture she ever drew of our family of 5. I like how we’re all holding hands :)
“The haunted hot rod” (from Mickey and Roadster Racers)
Apparently the green thing is a giant toadstool…haha
This one is a dump truck carrying balls and a car
Brooklyn and Savannah and Valentine’s hearts
Another Lion Guard picture!
It’s kind of hard to see this one, but it’s a picture of a zoo. There’s a horse, a lion, and two cats….she learned to draw the animals from that drawing book…
My homemade Valentine’s Day card from Brooklyn :)
Travis’s Valentine’s Day card…made by taping 4 pieces of paper together :)
Another Finding Nemo picture..
I just love the way she draws birds…haha.
I thought this was really interesting. She’d been writing her name correctly for months without help, and one day she wrote it like this. The letters are in reverse order AND written backwards. Isn’t that crazy? She didn’t even realize what she’d done. Apparently it’s called mirror writing and is common among children learning to write? She only wrote her name like that a few times before returning to writing it the normal way.
Brooklyn driving a train
Mommy, Daddy, and strawberries
Brooklyn with her stuffed animals (Simba, Brownie, and Teddy)

“A catfish and a big fish”
A rabbit, dog, and a bunch of carrots :)
Check out that dragon! (Also pictured: a bat and a spider)
Lion Guard…again :) I promise she doesn’t watch TV all day! She just really enjoys drawing characters from the shows/movies that she likes.
Brooklyn and T-bone (from Clifford)
This was the first thing Savannah ever drew besides just scribbles. She told me it was a monster! :)
Brooklyn traced the outline of the butterfly and then decorated it herself…
Brooklyn and Savannah playing with balls…
Sleeping Beauty and the Prince
Savannah hunting for Easter eggs (and bugs flying in the sky)
“A butterfly party”
Brooklyn and Savannah playing in the snowflakes
Savannah’s “secret grandparents” (Brooklyn says this is NOT a picture of Paw and Rae Rae, so I’m not sure who these secret grandparents are!)…whoever it is, they are looking stylish!
“Savannah in the backyard”
That’s all for now! If she continues drawing at such a rapid pace, I may have to do another one of these posts by the end of the year. I love seeing how creative Brooklyn gets with her artwork, and I’m glad she enjoys it so much. She’s already much better at drawing than I am! :)

Thanks for sharing these, Erin – so cute! I love all the curly hair (even I have curly hair!) and Travis’ hair. Maybe that’s Saturday morning hair? She is certainly a creative little gal. So nice to see! Those secret grandparents were the most interesting. They definitely have wild fashion sense. HA!
Haha. Love our little artist!!
