I know I won’t be able to call B a “big” girl after she’s about 5 years old (ha!), so I’m taking advantage of the years I have left. But, seriously…she is growing up fast! We made a lot of progress in her “big girl room” (formerly, the guest bedroom) over the weekend, and as of Sunday night, she is sleeping in there at night and for naps!! Way to go, B! Travis has been teasing me because he wasn’t worried at all that she would have a hard time with the transition. I was afraid it would take her a while, and I was getting a little stressed thinking about it. It And it ended up taking her about 24 hours…haha. Guess her daddy knew best! Anyway, her new room isn’t finished, but pretty much everything is in its place. We just have to hang stuff on the walls, and it will be complete :) I will go ahead and show you some sneak peeks just to give you an idea of what it looks like…
This was taken on Saturday afternoon after we got the bed all made and set up. Brooklyn was very interested the whole time and immediately wanted to get on her “big girl bed”. This bedding is the same pattern as her crib bedding (Hottsie Dottsie), so we’ll be able to use the same wall art from her nursery in this room too. Yay! :)
Saturday night, Carter came over to hang out with us while his mommy and daddy went on a date. (We had given Carter a “gift certificate” for an evening at our house with Cousin B, but it had an expiration date of sometime in April. Wonder why? Haha…). The evening went pretty well overall! We managed to eat supper while it was still warm and everything ;) It did give us a little sneak peek into what life will be like in a few months though. I’m pretty sure neither of us will sit down for more than about 2 minutes at a time…haha. Somebody will always be needing something!
Me with the THREE kiddos…Daddy cut Savannah off in the picture ;)
Brooklyn did pretty well when I held Carter for most of the night, but she wasn’t too happy when Daddy had to give her a bath because Carter had fallen asleep in my lap. So, it wasn’t a big surprise when she didn’t want to sleep in her new room that night. I think she may have thought that Carter was going to sleep in her crib!! When we took her into her new room, she said, “No big girl bed?” and went into the nursery to try to climb into her crib. We didn’t want to push it, so we decided to just try again the next day :)
When Sunday night rolled around, she didn’t really want to get into her new bed and stay in it. She climbed up and down several times. Finally, after a few minutes, we convinced her to lie down with her stuffed animal friends. We think she must have been awake for about the next 1.5 hours because we kept hearing her talking, and finally around 10 PM, she came out into the living room…and scared me half to death! I’m not used to her being able to get out of bed on her own!! I took her back into her room and stayed in there for a few minutes. She was still awake when I left the room, and she went right to sleep and slept until 7 AM the next morning!!! Yay, Brooklyn!
First morning after waking up in her big girl bed! I was so proud of her! I asked her if she slept good in her new bed, and she nodded her head yes. It was so sweet!
She had a waffle and strawberries for breakfast to celebrate :)
She has been very interested in everything in her new room. It’s funny to see her playing with her same old toys again like they are new…just because they are in a new place!
This bookshelf is being used to store books, toys, and stuffed animals. I was excited that the fabric bins from her Cubeical fit perfectly on the bottom shelf.
I have caught her several times just playing (or pretending to take a “nappy”) on her new bed.
Here is what we’ve done with her closet so far. Her clothes barely take up any of the hanging space, so that’s good! I may repaint that nightstand at some point, but right now it works for more storage in the closet.
These shelves in the corner were already there before we re-did the closet. They make a good spot for her shoes!! :)
So, there you have it! Today, I officially took her bedding out of the crib in the nursery, so it is now empty and waiting for Savannah’s bedding. I just need to wash it first :) I’ve been working on painting some canvases and letters for Savannah’s room this week, so that’s been fun. I can’t wait to get her room all set up! Paw and Rae Rae brought up a chest of drawers from the lake house for Savannah to use (since we moved Brooklyn’s into her new room), so that will be another project we need to get finished in the next few weeks–painting it and adding new hardware. I can’t wait to see how it looks when it’s all finished!
Before I wrap this up for the night, I have to share these pictures of Brooklyn…
We were about to go on a walk yesterday, and I asked her to hold up her “Nemo friends” and say cheese, and this is what she did :)
She picked out these red sparkly shoes to wear on our walk…haha! Don’t they go perfectly with her pink sweatpants? :) Maybe she’s got some girly-girl in her after all…although, we were waving at “big trucks” that passed by while we walked, so I think “girly” is doubtful…
Cutest laundry helper around!
Okay, time for bed. Goodnight, y’all!! Hope you’re having a great week! :)
