Last night was a big night!
Brooklyn tried rice cereal for the first time, and I couldn’t wait another minute to share the pictures with you. They are TOO CUTE!
I’m trying my hand at making all of her baby food, and so far I’ve made several types. They are all in the freezer ready to be thawed and eaten! It is really easy to make it; basically all you need is a blender and some ice cube trays! I’ve already made rice cereal (by milling uncooked brown rice into a powder and then simmering it in water), banana, blueberry, yellow squash, and zucchini purees. They have all been frozen in ice cube trays and are now in Ziploc baggies in the freezer waiting to be used. Hopefully this will save us a lot of money, and it will be better for Brooklyn than eating the jarred stuff too! If you are interested, a friend of mine recommended this website about making your own baby food, and it is really helpful.
So, we started with rice cereal last night, and here’s how it went…
Brooklyn was ready for the adventure! We haven’t put her highchair together yet (that’s on the to-do list), so she sat in her Bumbo wearing the cutest monogrammed bib. Here, she is before the mess began!
She loved it from the start! I think we are going to have a big eater on our hands…
She kept putting her hands in her mouth while I was trying to feed her…
It seemed like she was trying to eat it, but just didn’t quite know how…
At the beginning, I think more rice cereal ended up on her bib and hands than in her mouth!
“Yum, what is this stuff all over my hands??”
I think she loved the spoon as much as the rice cereal. It seemed like she was trying to eat the spoon (like she tries to “eat” her toys and anything else she can put in her mouth).
She started crying when I stopped feeding her for a few seconds. I’m not sure if she was crying for the cereal or the bowl/spoon. It was hilarious though!
“Hurry up, Mom! I’m starving! Can’t you see me wasting away as we speak??”
Much better. That girl loves to eat!
So overall, Brooklyn loved it! It’s a good thing she was wearing a bib though…she made a big mess!
“When can we do this again??” (*CUTEST PICTURE EVER!!!)
I love this girl so much! Can’t believe how grown up she is compared to a couple of months ago…
“I love you too, Mom! Here, let me rub my slobbery hands all over your face…”
And, of course, the obligatory video for Rae Rae and Cici (and whoever else is interested!)…
What a fun time! Who knew it could be so entertaining to watch someone else eat? I guess it’s just the thrill of watching Brooklyn try something new. Plus, the fact that she is just so cute.

So precious!
Thank you!! :)
If you think that was messy wait till she starts feeding herself. Cute pictures!
Oh boy…that will be CRAZY!
When Andrew started eating solid food, he’d stick he bottle in his mouth after each bite. Gary Jr. sucked his thumb after each bite. I wonder if it’s because they are used to “sucking down” their food, so they expect to do the same with the solid food…? It’s a cute, fun adventure. Brooklyn is just too cute!
I bet that must be it…because she was definitely trying to suck on the spoon!
That was hilarious – thanks for sharing all the good pics. Kids provide so much cheap entertainment!! HA!
She is definitely entertaining!
I love the pictures of the two of you together. Don’t forget to keep taking those!
Sometimes I feel like I’m taking TOO many pictures, but I’m sure in a few years, I’ll be glad that I did!
