Abigail turned 3 months old last week on Thursday! It’s hard to believe she’s been with us for a quarter of a year already.
I’m not sure how much she weighs right now, but she is definitely filling out. When we went up to the hospital a couple of weeks ago to visit my former co-workers, I weighed her on the scale in the pediatric pre-op area—with her clothes on and a wet diaper, she weighed 9 lbs 1.5 oz! So, I would guess she’s around 9-9.5 pounds right now, but it’s hard to know for sure. She doesn’t go back to the doctor for another checkup until right before Christmas, so we’ll get some official stats then. She is still wearing size 1 diapers and mainly newborn clothes. Some of them are getting a little snug, but most of the 0-3 month outfits are still a little long.
Nursing is still going really well overall! I don’t feel like she has the greatest latch, but I’m hoping that will improve as she gets bigger. As she’s grown, she is having less trouble with my fast letdown, so I’m happy about that. She still gets choked from time to time, but overall it’s not too much of a problem. She is eating about every 3 to 3.5 hours during the day; I’m still waking her up to eat more often than not. I’m trying to get her calories in during the day in hopes that she’ll start sleeping through the night consistently soon :)
Speaking of sleeping, she is typically waking up about every 4-5 hours at night to eat. But, on November 15th (the night before she turned 3 months old), she went from 9 PM to 5 AM without eating, and I had to wake her up at 5 AM to feed her! Since then, she has started sleeping longer stretches at night, which has been great. I’m hoping that continues! During the day, she is still sleeping a lot, but can stay awake for an hour or longer at a time, especially in the morning. We are still swaddling her and putting her in the Rock n’ Play for naps and at night.
I didn’t get any pictures of really great smiles, but Abigail has just started really smiling at us in the last week or two. The best time to catch a smile is right after she eats :) She is also starting to coo and “talk” a little bit sometimes. Brooklyn has even gotten her to smile here and there, which makes her pretty excited. Abigail’s other big accomplishment this month is getting stronger and better with her head control. She also went on her first trip out of town this month when we went to Paw and Rae Rae’s house in Trussville for a couple of days at the end of October.
Knock on wood, Abigail seems to be a pretty easy going baby so far. She is generally pretty happy unless she’s hungry or tired. She doesn’t mind taking baths and usually doesn’t even cry when I take her out of the tub and wrap her up in the towel. She also isn’t too phased by constant chaos of her big sisters…I guess she doesn’t have a choice but to tolerate it! :)
We love you, Abigail! Can’t wait to see what you learn over the next month!

Rae-Rae thinks she looks much bigger than she did on November 1st. What a precious doll!!!
