Ready or not…I turned 30 on Thursday. It’s pretty crazy to think about! Last year on my birthday, I made a list of 30 things to accomplish before I turned 30. Unfortunately, I didn’t get it all done. Womp, womp. The things left on the list are a mixture of things I ran out of time for and things I just didn’t make a top priority. There are also a couple of things on the list that we are planning to do pretty soon. Overall, it was a good year, and I’m happy with the things I did get around to doing!
Things to Accomplish before October 20th, 2016:
Find and make an appointment with a primary care doctor (Anyone have a recommendation for someone in the Madison/Huntsville area??).– Done! Appointment was in April, and I like my new doctor :)Find a hairdresser in town and get a NOTICEABLE hair cut…not just a “trim”! (Recommendations, anyone??)– Took me until September, but I did it! Hair is now to my shoulders…yay!- Read all of the parenting books that are stacking up on my nightstand. (Finished one but have several to go)
- Do another Whole 30.
- Go on a kid-free overnight trip with Travis. (It is booked though—for our anniversary in December. We’re a couple of months behind!)
Learn how to put in contacts so I can see again OR just wear my glasses regularly!11/5/15 – First time to put in contacts…I did it! After a week, I’m still not a pro but it’s getting easier. Usually takes me less than 5 minutes to get them in. I should have gotten these a year or two ago…it’s so nice to be able to see things far away without my glasses!!! *Almost a year later…contacts are no big deal now! :)Learn how to sew (even if it’s just a button).– made 5 burp cloths with Cici’s help and have more to finish when I get around to it :)Pick out and order king sized bedding for our new bed.(11/13/15 – DONE! Love our new bedding! It’s very colorful and really brightens up the room).Find a good moisturizer and start using it on my face every day!(Found it! Burt’s Bees Brightening Even Skin Tone Moisturizing Cream is great! Not greasy at all!)Frame some pictures of Savannah around our house (2nd child problems…).(Hung an 8×10 in the dining room, ordered a new canvas for the living room…)- Make a list of everything I’m thankful for. (No excuses—should have done this! Would have been a long list…)
Give up soft drinks for 1 month– November 1-30, 2015Use the spa gift card that Travis gave me for my birthday (like 2 years ago…whoops).– Got 1 massage, and it was wonderful…still have $ left to use though!- Purge and organize my clothes in our dresser.
Purge and organize my shoes in the closet.(February 23rd – Done! Got rid of 5 or 6 pairs, and organized what’s left. Looks much better! And now (October), they need to be organized again…haha)- Make a green smoothie.
- Write Brooklyn and Savannah each a letter to be opened when they are older.
Go see a movie in the theater.– June 2016 – We saw Finding Dory as a family. It was Brooklyn’s first time going to the movies, and we all had a great time! Even Savannah paid attention for parts of it :)Order something I wouldn’t normally get at a restaurant.– 9/12/16 – I ordered the Applewood Smoked Duck Breast at Connor’s, and it was delicious! It was my first time to eat duck :)Play tennis.– Played on a Sunday night with some of the guys from church.Have a game night at our house.(February 2016)Try using coconut oil as a conditioner for my hair.(10/28/15 – left it on my hair 3 hours and I can definitely tell my hair is softer! May have to start doing this regularly…)- Give blood at a blood drive.
- Pay for the person behind me in the drive-thru at a fast food restaurant. (My excuse for not doing this one is that I don’t think I even went through the drive-thru in the last year…haha. That’s how little I go out to eat!).
- Write someone an encouraging card just because.
- Take Brooklyn and Savannah to the zoo. (Although we didn’t get this done yet, we ARE planning to go to the Birmingham Zoo with my parents on November 1st.)
Unplug from social media for a month.(January 2016 – and I really didn’t miss it while I wasn’t using it! Lesson learned…)Try a new recipe for dinner.- Turn my blog into a book and have it printed. (I’ve started going through old posts and editing format/proofreading, but haven’t made it all the way through yet.)
- Run two 5Ks (Liz Hurley + one other). (I did run the Liz Hurley 5K on October 15th but that was the only race I did in the last year.)
I’m looking forward to making the most of my thirties watching these two sweet girls grow!
