I wish I had the time to document more of what goes on in our day-to-day lives. I look back at a week gone by, and it’s just a blur of diaper changes, meal times, grocery shopping, building with blocks, playing outside, watching Daniel Tiger’s neighborhood, etc. But there are so many priceless moments in there that I wish I was better about writing down. I need to get some sort of notepad to just keep on the kitchen counter so that I can write it down when it happens. By the time I finally get around to blogging, I’ve forgotten half of what I want to say. Thank you baby brain and sleep deprivation ;) (Yes, baby brain still exists after you’ve given birth to the baby, or at least that’s my excuse!).
So, here is my feeble attempt at writing about the last few weeks of our lives. At least I’ve gotten pictures, so that helps me remember some stuff ;)
Almost a month ago, Brooklyn went to the dentist for the second time ever. Her first visit was back in April right before Savannah was born. She enjoyed playing with the puzzles in the waiting room before we went back. This time our wait wasn’t nearly as long as the first time, so I was thankful for that!
Savannah sat in her car seat the whole time we were there and did great!
When we got back to the room, Brooklyn wasn’t quite as cooperative this time around. She didn’t really want the dentist to look in her mouth, but he finally got a peek after some convincing :) She didn’t cry but wasn’t too happy to be there either. They are going to attempt to clean her teeth next time we go if she will let them, so we’ll see how that goes…
This was the same day as our visit to the dentist (October 13th). It was really the first time Savannah sat up by herself for a few seconds.
She has gotten a lot stronger since then and can now sit up without propping on her arms. Sometimes she will even sit up for several minutes at a time without toppling over. What a big girl!! This picture was taken about a week ago, just for reference :)
It makes me happy that Brooklyn enjoys being around her sister!
Daddy read the girls a book after supper one night. I need to do a better job of reading to Savannah on a regular basis because she’s starting to get to the age where I think she’d be interested :)
Savannah did take part in the nightly Bible story one night last week!
Brooklyn’s bedtime routine is usually take a bath, drink milk from her sippy cup, brush teeth, read a Bible story, and then run laps around the living room while Daddy chases her. She’ll ask, “Will you tickle me now?” She loves it! Then I usually sit beside her bed and sing several songs while tucking her in. Then, it’s time for bed!
But, this particular night, Savannah joined in the chase/tickle fun. It was too cute not to share:
I love hearing those sweet giggles!
Brooklyn has gotten much more interested in playing dress up lately. The Hesters gave us a bunch of dress up clothes that were too small for Mikayla and Rachel, so Brooklyn enjoys getting them out and trying to put them on. She likes to pretend she is either a “superhero to the rescue” by wearing a cape (usually a blanket) around her shoulders or a ballerina by “twirling” (spinning) around while wearing a dress or skirt.
Speaking of clothes, I believe this was Brooklyn’s first time to get dressed all by herself. It was funny…she marched into the room and announced, “Look! I got dressed!” She did pretty good to get her PJs off and get dressed too! The shirt was on backwards, but I was impressed that she got her arms in the holes without help. She was so proud of herself that I decided to let her wear that outfit to the grocery store later that morning (after turning her shirt around…haha). We usually get her dressed and undressed ourselves, but she’s shown a lot more interest lately in wanting to dress herself :)
One day last week she put her tennis shoes on all by herself. They were on the wrong feet, but hey…it’s a start!
I cracked up when I saw Brooklyn getting dressed in her room another day. Both legs were in the same hole…haha!
Too funny!
Back to Savannah, she is really getting interested in toys and is scooting around in circles on her belly to get to things that she wants to grab.
I’m not sure what it is with old cell phones, but they are some of the girls’ favorite toys.
I think this picture is so sweet! :)
So far, Savannah has tried rice cereal, peas, sweet potatoes, banana, and pear baby food. Nothing has been a huge hit so far, but she has probably tolerated sweet potato the best…
Most of the peas ended up on her bib ;)
And this is what she thinks of banana! Haha!
Carter (and his mommy) have come over to play several times over the last month or two. We (mostly Brooklyn) always make a big mess and have fun!
She’s a lot taller than him now, but it won’t be long until he catches up and passes her ;)
We got a coupon in the mail for a free 10 oz cup of frozen yogurt at Zenberi, and you know we’re all about free stuff in this house ;) So, I took Brooklyn there for a special treat one afternoon after she woke up from her nap. She was SO excited. We put M&Ms, gummy worms, and gummy bears in it, and she thought that was so cool!
It was a really nice day, so we sat outside and ate it together :)
Savannah just chilled in the stroller while we were there. Won’t be long before she’s eating frozen yogurt too! :)
Now that the leaves are falling, we’ve spent some time in our front yard playing :)
It’s fun to throw leaves in the air!
We also made a little pile of leaves to jump in!
It’s pretty neat how simple activities like this are so much fun to a 2 year old!
Sister enjoys being outside in the sunshine too :)
This was Thursday afternoon after her 6 month shots. She didn’t seem too phased by them, thankfully!
Another simple activity that Brooklyn thought was awesome…pushing Sister in the stroller!
She was actually pretty good at pushing her…
…just not that great at steering ;)
After Savannah’s checkup, we went to Firehouse Subs for lunch with Daddy. It’s becoming a tradition I guess since we’ve done that 2 or 3 times :) Brooklyn announced to Dr. Dudley and the nurses that she was going to a restaurant and was so excited…haha
One evening I woke Savannah up from a nap, and she was holding her paci in her sleep. Guess she didn’t want it to get too far away!
I hate that this picture turned out blurry, but we figured out that Savannah is ticklish on her feet, so Brooklyn was having a fun time tickling her after supper. They were both laughing so loud at each other :)
Moments like those are what make the sleep deprivation and craziness of raising two little girls so very worth it!

I LOVE the pic of Savannah looking at Travis with absolute adoration!
