That’s right! Brooklyn is definitely getting a little SISTER! *Well, as definite as an ultrasound can predict :)
We had our ultrasound last Wednesday, and everything looked good! Sister’s heart rate was 138 bpm, and she was wiggling around like crazy the whole time. Reminded me of another little girl named Brooklyn! It took a little patience to be able to see whether or not she was definitely a SHE, but finally the tech was able to see. It was pretty clear once we got a good look! The tech was a girl we’d never had before, but she was really nice. She even gave us a 4D sneak peek at Sister’s face!
We will probably still pay for the real 4D ultrasound around 26-30 weeks or so, but it was neat to get a little preview. She’s got some fattening up to do! Just for kicks, here she is next to Brooklyn’s 4D picture…
What do you think?
In case you’re wondering, Sister still doesn’t have a name yet. It’s on the to-do list! Hopefully, we will decide something soon. In the meantime, she’ll be known as Sister :) Brooklyn has started calling her “sister” or “baby sister” and will point to my belly and say it. It’s very cute!
I ordered the bedding for Sister’s nursery tonight, and I’m very excited about it! It’s the same brand as Brooklyn’s bedding, so I know it’s good quality. We are thinking that Brooklyn will move into a twin bed sometime around her birthday in February, and then we’ll move her crib into Sister’s nursery and start getting it ready. At least that’s the plan :) Hopefully, Brooklyn will be excited about getting a “big girl” bed and not be mad that her crib is going to the new baby! Obviously, we could use the same crib bedding for Sister that Brooklyn has been using, but I figure she’ll get enough hand-me-downs as it is between clothes and toys, so I wanted to make her room special just for her :)
With all of the different colors, I think it will be easy to decorate the room!
Here is my 20 week picture from last Wednesday. I’m still feeling pretty good! Other than having a few more headaches than normal and a harder time getting comfortable at night, I’d say I’m feeling about the same as I was pre-pregnancy. My Boppy pregnancy pillow definitely helps me sleep better at night now! I’ve started having some strange dreams again lately, which I’m pretty sure happened last time with B. I’ve gotten some interesting comments from strangers and others lately that insinuate that I look a lot further along than halfway. Haha! I’m not sure why people say stuff like that–are they just not thinking? Who knows! I’d hate to run into those same people when I’m past 30 weeks ;) As of last week, I’ve gained about 7 or 8 lbs, so it’s not like I can really do anything about my “shape”…except embrace it, and enjoy eating what I want! :) Sister has been moving around a lot this week, so I’m starting to feel little kicks all the time now. I love it!
As for Big Sister Brooklyn, she is as fun as ever right now. Seriously! I’m starting to see her imagination come out, and that’s been neat. She likes to pretend to feed Kitty with a cup. She loves coloring! She has started giving us hugs now–squeezing us tight and saying “mmmm mmmm!” She is starting to help me when I read books to her, especially “I am a Bunny” and “The Little Mouse…and the Red Ripe Strawberry”. (I think we’ve read them so many times that she remembers the words, and she can fill some of them in!). She has also slept in her crib the entire night for the past 3 out of 4 nights (knock on wood!), so I’m hoping we are over the waking-up-multiple-times-a-night phase that we were in recently.
This was one morning after she’d slept in our bed all night. She looks like she’s right at home, huh?
We ate lunch with Baugay on Sunday, and I think she enjoyed having her two great-grandkids together at her house for the first time :) Here she is holding baby Carter!
We tried to get Brooklyn to stand by her and be in the picture, but of course she wouldn’t cooperate. Maybe next month :)
A couple of nights ago, we made a little video for cousin Carter :)
Monday was a pretty warm morning, so we went for a walk around the neighborhood before it rained. Of course, we took Kitty and Blanket with us, and we picked up sticks and rocks along the way. Miss B still managed to fall asleep before we got back to the house though!
Lunch tastes so much better on a Doc McStuffins plate! ;)
Doesn’t everyone dip their pretzels in applesauce? Haha :)
Last but not least, Brooklyn received a special visit from Santa, Mrs. Claus, and 4 little elves on Monday night. They came to OUR house to see B! Wasn’t that sweet??? When we opened the door and Brooklyn saw a bunch of people dressed up, she said “uh oh!” and ran away…haha. She was a little afraid of Santa (just like a couple of weeks ago) and she wasn’t too sure about the others, but of course she was interested in the goodies and gifts they brought. We really appreciated them coming. It was so thoughtful!
Checking out the gift from Santa!
Lots of fun!
Thank you, Santa and the gang for coming to see us Monday!! It was so sweet! :) It’s hard to believe that Christmas is NEXT week. I need to hurry up and wrap all of our gifts!!
Hope you are having a wonderful week!
