The first half of July has been a blur! This post is going to be a recap of all things non-wedding/campaign related, and I’ll cover that stuff in a separate post.
We’ve watched a lot of soccer in the past few weeks! This picture was taken on the day that the USA played Belgium in the World Cup. We lost in a heartbreaker! Brooklyn wore her red, white, and blue to support the team that day :)
Later that day, we ate at Cici’s for supper. Brooklyn was apparently feeling shy when she first got there, but she warmed up after a few minutes!
Brooklyn practiced her flower girl duties every day for a week or two leading up to Jenn’s wedding. I can’t wait to fill you in on how the actual wedding day went!
Brooklyn and I have been doing a lot of running lately. Actually, B has been doing a lot of RIDING…haha. She enjoys it though! I’ve gotten up to pushing her for 2.5 miles without stopping to walk, so I’m pretty proud of that. We go pretty slow, but that’s okay! Sometimes, Brooklyn stays awake…
…and other times, she is asleep by the time we get back home!
Brooklyn’s independent streak continues! Most of the time, she flat out refuses to let us feed her with a spoon or fork and is only happy when we turn over the utensils to her…
…which may or may not lead to a very big mess! :)
For the 4th of July weekend, this “American beauty” went with us to Smith Lake to hang out with Gramps and Rae Rae. We had a great time!
Brooklyn enjoyed sitting in this float even when it wasn’t in the water!
The view from the dock…very peaceful and relaxing!
The weather was PERFECT all weekend. Low humidity and temps in the 80s. We couldn’t ask for anything better! The water felt great for swimming. Brooklyn liked wearing her puddle jumper better than a traditional life jacket because it didn’t come up around her neck. We spent a lot of time in the water that weekend!
Brooklyn also tried corn on the cob and loved it, although you can’t tell from her expression in this first picture.
Yum yum!
After a few minutes, she insisted on holding it herself :)
This is so good!!! :)
After the weekend of the 4th, Brooklyn spent all of Monday afternoon with Aunt Jann, Zach, and Reagan. She did great! Aunt Jann said she never cried, and she had a fun time. When Travis and I got there around 6 PM, she was taking a nap with Uncle Gil in the recliner. So sweet! I was so proud of Brooklyn for doing so well that day!
Back at home, one day recently Brooklyn discovered how to climb up and sit in the window seat in her room. I raised the blinds to give her more room, and she loved it! Here, Puppy and Kitty Kitty are looking out the window with her :)
We also had fun in her new “pool” in the backyard one day last week. She liked watching the water coming out of the spout.
All smiles!
Of course, she wouldn’t stay in the pool very long. Her favorite game quickly became “let’s climb in and out of the pool as many times as we can!”.
…and that evolved into a dance party in the grass. Her “dancing” is basically a knee bend up and down. Very cute!
She ran all around the backyard to dry off. It’s hard to catch that girl!
Hopefully, I’ll be able to blog about Jenn’s wedding weekend soon. We had a busy weekend between the wedding festivities, going to Tuscaloosa for a day, driving to Noccalula Falls for an afternoon, and going to Uncle Gary’s campaign party. We are still recovering from all that fun! :)
