Brooklyn Gets Sick + A Gender Reveal

Last weekend (June 20th-22nd), all three of us actually stayed home for the entire weekend. It was almost unthinkable! :)

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately, since I’m glad we were at home for this), Brooklyn started getting sick on that Friday while I was at work. Travis gets the “outstanding nurse” award for noticing that Brooklyn felt warm and taking her temperature that day while he was babysitting. It was only about 99.5 when he took it, but it kept going up and down all weekend. Sunday morning, it got up to 102.7! :( Other than acting like she just felt kind of crummy, Brooklyn really had no other symptoms. No runny nose, cough, sneezing, anything. So, we just kept her home all weekend and gave her Tylenol when her fever was over 102. She was still drinking and eating pretty well, so I wasn’t too worried about her.

Somehow, despite Brooklyn being sick, Travis and I managed to install 3 new outdoor wall lights and 2 new floodlights outside. They are light sensitive and can be programmed as motion detectors, which is so nice! Our old floodlights didn’t even work at all, and it’s just nice to have lights on outside when it’s dark out. We don’t have to worry about flipping any switches anymore…they just go off and on by themselves. I love it!

Here is the outside of our garage after installing one new wall light. The old light is on the left, and the new one is on the right. Big improvement!!!

Brooklyn became an expert at taking her own temperature :) Isn’t that where you stick it?

One day, she was so tired that she fell asleep while she was eating…haha!

The thumbie made many appearances that weekend. It’s a good “comforter” in times of trouble :)

Poor B!

I ended up taking her to the doctor on Monday morning, and as I figured, it was just a virus. Since this was her first real time to be sick, I just wanted to make sure it wasn’t an ear infection or something else that I wasn’t noticing. Side note: I have been so impressed with her pediatrician’s office so far! I called to make her an appointment at 8:10 AM that morning and they said we could come at 9 AM. We got to see her normal doctor, and didn’t have to wait more than 10 minutes in the waiting room. We really haven’t ever had to wait long before her normal checkups either. It’s been nice!

By Tuesday, Brooklyn was feeling pretty much back to normal and no longer running a fever. Yay! Sadly, though, we had to miss Tyler and Alisha’s gender reveal party for Baby Loveless on Saturday night. I stayed home with B, and Travis went to the party. Earlier on Saturday, I went over and helped Alisha with some of the party decorations and cupcakes. It was fun, and at least I got to see some of the stuff for the party since I didn’t get to go. I did send Travis with the camera and instructed him to take lots of pictures. He did a good job! :)

Brooklyn and I were dressed in pink even though we had to stay home.

Travis wore blue since he was guessing “boy”!

Some of the food…it looked so cute!

I helped Alisha decorate the box on Saturday morning. Too bad they wouldn’t let me go to Party City to fill the box with the right color balloons! ;)

I think this was where they read everyone’s guesses…girl or boy!?

It’s a BOY!!!!

Everyone was so excited!!

Can’t wait to meet Baby BOY Loveless in a few months!!!! Brooklyn is going to have so much fun with her first little cousin!!
