Already August?!

Last week was pretty busy! Sometimes life gets in the way of blogging (imagine that!), so I’ve got a lot of pictures to share from the past couple of weeks…

Last Saturday, we put our new patio furniture together, and we love it. We tested it out for the first time the next night when we grilled hamburgers for supper. It was fun to eat outside, and it actually felt more like fall than summertime outside. Couldn’t ask for a better evening with our little family! :)

Monday night, Brooklyn and I headed to Trussville after supper to spend a couple of days with my family. I wanted to see Dadaw again since he is on hospice now. He’s out of the hospital and back at the nursing home, but hasn’t been very responsive or eaten much lately. We got a little bit of a smile from him when I held Brooklyn up close to him, so that was really sweet.

We also got to see Gran for the first time since she was in the hospital a couple of weeks ago after having a heart attack. She is slowly getting stronger each day. A girl came to Gran’s apartment to help her with her therapy while we were there one day, so I had Brooklyn do the exercises along with Gran. It made us all laugh to see Miss B doing leg raises!

Rae Rae (my mom) also got some quality time with Brooklyn. Unfortunately, Dad didn’t get much time with her since he was at work Tuesday and Wednesday, and we left town Wednesday afternoon. We’ll be back for his birthday and Jenn’s white coat ceremony in a couple of weeks though!

Melissa has been spending the night with us once a week for most weeks this summer and helping out with Brooklyn. It’s been a lot of fun! She spent the night Wednesday night and hung out with us on Thursday. Brooklyn always has fun when Melissa comes over…

Thursday night, Brooklyn was lying on our bed and wiggled her way backwards into all of the throw pillows. It was so cute that I had to snap a few pictures…

Then, she eventually got tired and found that left thumb…

Friday was my day to work, so Brooklyn got some daddy-daughter time. She has really gotten the hang of drinking from a bottle, so she usually does great on the days I work. I met Travis and Brooklyn at Firestone after work, and this was the reaction I got when she saw me…

I think she was excited! :) I wish I’d gotten some pictures, but Friday night Matt and Maggie came over for supper. Travis grilled chicken, and it turned out great (even if it took way longer to cook than he thought it would!). We had fun catching up with them and playing Loaded Questions after we ate.

Yesterday, we spent a lot of the day running errands. Emily and her friend Rachel were in town, so they and Melissa came over and watched Brooklyn for a little while. I found this picture on our camera, so I’m assuming Emily took it. Thanks, Em…it turned out cute! :)

Last night, we ate supper at Bridge Street with Mollie and Gatlan. We wanted to eat at Connor’s, but stupid me didn’t make a reservation, and the wait was going to be 2.5 to 3 hours. No thanks! So, we went to Cantina Laredo instead. It was pretty good! The only hiccup in the evening was a minor diaper explosion (at the restaurant, of course!), but luckily I had an extra onesie in my diaper bag. Whew!

Today, we had Sunday lunch at our house. Travis grilled steaks, and we had homemade peach ice cream too. Thanks, Cheryl, for providing all of the food. It was yummy!! This afternoon, I helped Brooklyn practice sitting up. She really started doing great at it! She even lasted for over a minute straight a couple of times before toppling over. What a big girl!! :)

This is shaping up to be a busy week too! I’m guessing that time will keep flying by, and before we know it, Brooklyn will be walking and talking. That’s just crazy! :)
