We have been a little off schedule on all of Abigail’s photo sessions with Carla. Abigail’s “newborn” pictures were taken at about 6 weeks old due to her NICU stay. Her “6 month” session was really more like an 8 month session because she wasn’t sitting up on her own at 6 months. So, I decided that it would make more sense to delay her 1 year pictures too. Since we’d just taken 6 month pictures at the end of April, we scheduled the 1 year pictures for the end of September (about a month after Abigail actually turned 1). Carla suggested taking the pictures at a cotton field in East Limestone and then going to her studio for the cake smash afterward. It’s always hard to schedule photo sessions months in advance because it’s hard to predict when nap times will be at that point, and unfortunately this session hit right when Abigail normally would have been napping. It was also BLAZING hot and humid. I felt like I was soaked in sweat within a minute or two of stepping out of the car. Overall though, I feel like these pictures did turn out better than the 6 month session. The big girls were more cooperative, which definitely helped ;) Without further ado…
We’ve never taken family pictures at a cotton field before, so I was excited to try something new. I struggled a bit with what we would wear, but I think it came together pretty well. I try to put our outfits together using mostly clothes we already have, but I did have to buy a couple of things this time (my shirt and Savannah’s capris).
I love Abigail’s little smile in this one!
It’s tough to get Savannah to look at the camera ;)
This is one of my favorites from the day!
Brooklyn and Savannah thought it was so fun to touch and pick the cotton! I just noticed that they were both holding a little piece of cotton in these pictures!
I thought these pictures of our big girls were so sweet! They fuss and fight with each other on a daily basis, but they have really turned into great playmates and friends over the last year.
Carla took a few minutes to get some individual pictures of Brooklyn and Savannah also. I always appreciate that!
She’s looking so grown!
I was proud of Savannah for smiling so well in these pictures!
Last but not least, our little Peapod!
This one is probably my favorite individual picture of Abigail from the day!
Her face is like “Why are you making me sit in this dirt??”
She didn’t appreciate being barefoot in the grass/dirt, but she was fine in the cute red chair!
Those little toes :)
Everyone, pile in!
We were all SO HOT by this point, but I was glad we captured these pictures of all 3 girls. I thought they turned out cute!
After we finished up at the cotton field, we drove over to Carla’s studio for the cake smash. “Smash” is a bit of an exaggeration, as you’ll see…
Finally decided to try a bite! :)
That’s a wrap! She ate a few bites, but was mostly uninterested in the cake ;) She’s a cutie either way though!
Can’t believe that was our last official photo session with a baby! We will have to schedule periodic family sessions every year or two from now on. The girls grow so fast, and I want to capture their changing looks as often as possible!
