I am determined to get this blog caught up before Brooklyn starts school, so I have less than a month and counting. This post covers what we were up to for the month of April (excluding Savannah’s party and Easter).
On April 2nd, the Loveless boys came over while Alisha went to a doctor’s appointment. Six kids under 6, and only one me. I volunteered for them to come (so don’t go thinking Alisha dumped her kids on me…ha!). It went surprisingly pretty well…the main thing that had me a little nervous was making sure the twins didn’t fall down the stairs since we don’t have baby gates up yet. Alisha wasn’t gone too long, and we all survived without injury, so it was a definite win :)
I never get tired of that Dory bike helmet…I’m sure she’ll roll her eyes at pictures of it when she gets older, but I think it’s the cutest.
Bath time is a messy adventure these days between foam soap, bath crayons, and paint…haha
On April 5th, Brooklyn woke up in the middle of the night complaining that her eyelids were stuck together. I had noticed some green goop in her eyes the afternoon before, but it got a lot worse overnight and into the next morning. She woke up crying because she couldn’t see…we pretty much had to pry her eyes open…it was pitiful. I was afraid it was pink eye, but after taking her to the doctor, Dr. Dudley told us it was likely a sinus infection. We went home with a prescription for Amoxicillin twice a day for 10 days, and within a day or so, her eyes were looking much better!
This girl always has plenty to keep her entertained…
We had some cold weather in early April – Saturday the 7th felt more like winter than spring!
I literally put the girls in winter hats and coats to go to Lowe’s!
Nothing like a good Saturday afternoon nap…
Abigail in her Sunday best :)
The 2nd Sunday of the month is always the Sunday that we eat with Baugay. She has recently passed the torch to Alisha and me, so now we are taking turns hosting on the 2nd Sunday. April was our first time to host, and I think it went well!
We always love spending time with Baugay :)
The first part of the month was when Abigail started sitting up all by herself. What a big girl!
We ordered a bubble machine to use at Savannah’s birthday party, so of course we had to try it out to make sure it worked. It did!
Antibiotic April – Brooklyn must have passed on her weird sinus/eye infection because Savannah got it 4 days later and then about a week and a half later, Abigail did too. Doing antibiotics twice a day for 10 days with more than one kid requires a written schedule to keep it all straight!
On April 12th, we went walking down to the greenway from our neighborhood. It’s really nice to be able to walk there and not have to load everyone up in the car first! We walked on a part of the greenway I’d never been on before, and the girls enjoyed seeing horses and a big tractor out in a nearby field.
Throwing rocks in the creek is always a must-do :)
Sweet baby girl!
Brooklyn walked the whole way there and part of the way back, but she got pretty tired before we got all the way home. I don’t blame her…I was tired too! She ended up sitting in the back of the stroller holding Abigail for the last half mile…haha. I’m not sure how heavy all three of them are combined, but I definitely got my workout in that day!
On April 13th, I took the girls to Nathan’s 5th birthday party at Dublin Park. (Daddy stayed home to work on taxes). We had a blast! The girls know next to nothing about Pokemon, but there was pizza, cake, games, and a playground, so they were happy as could be :)
Savannah definitely approved of the cake!
Savannah got a turn to swing at the pinata, but it got broken before Brooklyn got a turn. I was really proud of the way she reacted–I was afraid she might get really upset and throw a fit, but she acted like a big girl and didn’t make a big deal about it. I think it helped that she collected quite a bit of candy when it broke…haha
Abigail literally slept almost the whole time we were there…I never even got her out of the stroller. She made it so easy on me!
Time for presents!
It was getting dark by the time the party was over, but the girls enjoyed running around and playing on the playground for a few minutes before heading home. It was a great evening celebrating one of Brooklyn’s best friends!
Love these two…
One afternoon, I peeked in Abigail’s room and found this. Brooklyn had wrapped Abigail up in a blanket and snuggled up beside her in her own blanket :)
I think Abigail enjoyed the attention!
She’s not short on attention from her other sister either. Savannah makes sure that Abigail had plenty of toys to choose from!
A little play time after supper (April 17th)
On April 20th, we headed down to Birmingham to pick up some furniture from Jenn and Chandler’s house that they weren’t planning to use anymore (they just recently moved to NYC and couldn’t take much!). The furniture we got from them is perfect for our playroom! Anyway, while we were there loading up the furniture, Brooklyn decided to decorate their fence with freshly cut roses…
Thankfully, her aunt and uncle weren’t mad! (They were in Hawaii at the time…)
I think the girls enjoyed seeing their Paw and Rae Rae while we were there (just a little, right?) :)
Sundays are tiring on everyone!
Sunday, April 22nd was especially tiring. That was the night that Abigail ended up in the ER after the sweet potato scare. This photo was taken at 2:35 AM. She did sleep off and on while we were there, but it was still rough.
Hopefully we won’t end up back there anytime soon! I’m thankful we haven’t had any big scares like that since that night.
I like bananas much better! :)
Brooklyn and Savannah love to set up “picnics” in our living room. I love that they always say a prayer before they start to eat :) Savannah always covers her eyes while she prays…I guess she’s making sure her eyes stay shut!
Occasionally on Thursdays, Travis will come home early and work from home for the afternoon. Good thing he has Abigail there to supervise and keep him on task!
This is Brooklyn’s idea of a clean room…maybe she thinks I won’t notice all of the stuff between the wall and her bed?? (eye roll).
The girls went to pick strawberries with Cici at Brown Farms on the 27th. Look at how many they picked!!
Brooklyn had fun pedaling Savannah around on the tricycle after supper on the 28th.
Savannah’s actual birthday fell on Sunday this year. She was our princess for the day!
We sang happy birthday to her at Cici’s house after lunch, so she got to blow out candles two days in a row (her party at our house was the day before).
Savannah was sweet to let Brooklyn play with her new Play-doh kits that she got for her birthday. They had fun making all sorts of foods and other things :)
Quotes and Notes for April:
- 4/6/18 – Abigail sat up unassisted by herself for almost a minute! She has been getting so much stronger this week, but today was the first day she sat up for any prolonged period of time. She uses her arms to hold herself up.
- 4/6/18 – Savannah is so sweet about sharing her favorite toys with Abigail. I’ll catch her putting her lamb stuffed animal or her princesses in Abigail’s crib to share with her. She’ll say, “Here you go, Abigail!”
- 4/16/18 – Brooklyn calls the loveseat in our living room the “two chair” (because it looks like 2 chairs attached to each other, I guess.) That must make the couch a “three chair”!
- 4/22/18 – Savannah’s Bible class teachers keep telling us how great she is doing in class. They have told us several times how she is the “leader” of the kids…always answering questions and singing out. Apparently, she was pretty quiet in class until Carter moved up to the preschool class, but not anymore! When she hears us talking about how she’s doing in class, she’ll say, “I’m a WEEDER!”
- 4/22/18 Travis ate some of the girls’ Easter candy after they were in bed last night and accidentally left the bag of candy on the couch overnight. When Brooklyn found it this morning, she chided him saying he was “wasting” it, and “We’ll have to keep an eye on you with the candy!”
- 4/23/18 – Brooklyn told me today that she changed her mind about marrying Nathan. Now she’s decided that she just wants to live with Savannah in their own house when they grow up :)
