Halloween 2017

This year I took the girls down to Trussville for a couple of days to celebrate my birthday and to go trick-or-treating in Paw and Rae Rae’s neighborhood. Halloween was on a Tuesday, so we drove down Monday right after lunch. Travis couldn’t come with us because he had a meeting at work Tuesday afternoon, so this was just a girls trip. It was Abigail’s first trip to Trussville as well as my first time to take all 3 girls on a road trip by myself. All in all, it was a great couple of days!

We celebrated my birthday Monday evening with a special dessert decorated by Brooklyn and Rae Rae!

Those who know me well know that I LOVE cookie cake (with lots of icing!).

It was a little hard to write with the icing, but I thought they did a great job :)

31 years old!

Brooklyn and Savannah love their Paw…and that’s an understatement! I seriously don’t think they could ask for a better grandfather :)

Tuesday was Halloween!

This will probably be our last year of trick-or-treating at Paw and Rae Rae’s for a while. Since Brooklyn will be in kindergarten next Halloween, it won’t be nearly as easy to travel if Halloween is on a school night :(

She is getting so grown up!

All festive in their orange shirts :) I couldn’t believe everyone was smiling and looking at the camera!

This year, Brooklyn and Savannah were Olaf and Anna for Halloween! I found their costumes at Kids Market for less than $10 a piece. So far, I’ve been too cheap to pay full price for Halloween costumes. I’m sure that will change one day when the girls get pickier about what they want to dress up as, but for now, it’s been nice to pick out their costumes myself!

I thought Savannah looked so cute with her tiny pigtails! And a big thanks goes to Cici for hemming Brooklyn’s pants and hat to fit a little better :)

Rae Rae dressed up too this year! She stayed at the house to pass out candy while we went out trick or treating.

Abigail stayed with Rae Rae while we were gone. Since she was asleep pretty much the whole time, I didn’t get any pictures of her. They don’t make costumes small enough for 6.5 pound babies, and I wasn’t feeling up to making her a costume this year. Not enough time or energy for that! Hopefully she’ll forgive me ;) Next Halloween should be a more memorable one for her!

The girls loved trick or treating this year!  They both did great saying “trick or treat!” and “thank you!” when they were given candy in their buckets. Lots of people go all out decorating for Halloween in that neighborhood (some with scary decorations), but Savannah wasn’t scared of the decorations like I thought she might be. Both girls were both intrigued by the ones that talked when you walked in front of them. I just told them they were “silly” skeletons or monsters. Savannah called the skeletons she saw “scarecrows”…haha. When we would finish at one house, she would say “Nudder house! Nudder house!”, and she was more excited about a bouncy ball she got instead of any of the candy. Brooklyn would tell random people we passed on the street or people that answered the door, “You have a happy Halloween!” It was really cute and sweet! We had lots of fun and got a ton of candy!

Brooklyn was leading the way…not surprising!

We saw a few other girls dressed as Anna this year, but no other Olafs!

Paw brought their dog, Charlie, along, and Charlie got more comments than the girls did…haha. “Oh, he’s so cute!!”…and he didn’t even have a costume on!

I think we trick or treated for about an hour and a half, and the girls did great. They carried their buckets by themselves almost the whole time and didn’t even seem that tired after all that walking!

Time to show Rae Rae what they got!

Their buckets were pretty full!

Once we got back to the house, it was time for Abigail to eat, and then we helped pass out candy with Rae Rae on the front porch. She had 3 big buckets of candy, and it was all gone by the end of the night. Every year I think they get more and more trick-or-treaters!

Proof that Abigail was actually there too ;) We spent the night Tuesday night and left on Wednesday after lunch. It was a great trip—we always enjoy making memories with Paw and Rae Rae!
