2016 Cushing Family Photos

For Christmas last year, we “kids” decided to give Mom a family photo session for her gift from all of us. We hadn’t had any family pictures made since Jenn and Chandler’s wedding in 2014, so we were past time for an update :) We found a photographer in Athens, Jared Paschall, who would take our photos for a reasonable price. It can be very expensive to pay for a photo session, especially with a large group of people who will be in the pictures!

It was a little tricky to schedule the photo session because we are all so busy these days. Jenn was in her 3rd year of medical school and was on-call on the weekends during some of her rotations. She didn’t know her schedule very far in advance though, so we decided to schedule it for a Saturday during her spring break when she knew she’d be free. It just so happened that it worked out to be the same day as Savannah’s birthday party when they would all be in town anyway!

It was all set to work out perfectly…except for the fact that the birthday girl was SICK that day! You may have read my blog post about her party, but if not: she was obviously not feeling well during the party and refused to eat–not even a single bite of cake! She was running a fever all afternoon, but we hated to reschedule the pictures after all the effort that had been made to take them that day. So, all of my family stuck around that afternoon after the party was over, and we just hung out, played cards, and waited until it was time for the pictures that evening. I should also mention that the weather started looking iffy that afternoon, and at one point, Madison County was under a tornado warning! It also monsooned (literally) with thunder and lightning on the way to meet Jared for the pictures. Needless to say, it was an interesting day. Thankfully, it stopped raining a few minutes after we met Jared, and it actually turned into a pretty nice evening. I was glad we were able to take the pictures after all! Savannah wasn’t her most cheery self, but she really did well the whole time despite not feeling good. All in all, the session was a success— and hopefully Mom liked her belated Christmas gift! ;)

By this point, the girls were DONE! No more pictures, please!

How Savannah really felt about the whole day’s worth of activities. Thankfully, she didn’t make this face in all the pictures…haha! ;)

So, those are the highlights! I’m excited about the way they turned out and glad we went to the trouble of having them taken :) I’m so thankful to be part of this family and to have these memories captured on camera!
